I NTRODUCTION T he Infinity Modulus II Home Theater System is a compact, efficient, univ ersal satellite , center channel and subwoofer system that is ideal for r eproducing multichannel audio and home theater sound.
1 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM Unpacking the Syst em Carefully unpack the system. If you suspect damage from transit, report it immediately to your dealer and/or deliv ery service .

3 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM I NST ALLING THE S A TELLITES Fo r Shelf Placement 1. Remov e the Modulus II satellites from the box. Remove r ubber cov er from the base and pull out Allen wrench. 2. Use the Allen wrench to loosen the adjustment scr ew (as necessary) to allow the mounting ball on the speaker to turn freely in the cup r estraint.

5 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM T urn Off All Po wer After placing the speakers , you are r eady to connect your system. Fir st, turn off all audio-system power . Use high-quality speaker wire to make your connections . Use at least #16-gauge speaker wire with polar ity coding.

8 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM Surround Modes W hen using the Modulus II system in a Dolby Pr o Logic* home theater system, make sure the r eceiv er’s center channel mode is set to “Normal. ” When using the Modulus II system in a Dolby Digital or DTS home theater system, make sure the r eceiv er’s speaker modes are set to “Small.
9 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM Infinity R.A.B.O .S. is a simple-to-use, yet sophisticated, low- frequency calibr ation system. It is designed to work in conjunction with the Infinity Modulus II self-amplified subwoof er . The Modulus II subwoofer contains a par ametric equalizer that you will adjust as indicated by the R.
10 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM P ower is switched on or off by pressing the button dir ectly below the bar -graph window . When the unit is on, one or more LEDs will always be illuminated. The function of the LEDs is described in the f ollowing section.
11 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM Init ial Syst em-Level Se tting T he following steps will set the pla yback lev el of the system to the corr ect level f or all tests that follow . Tu rn the system volume to minimum. Cue the R.A.B.O .S. T est CD to T rack 2 and pr ess P ause II .
MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM 12 Each of the following tr acks produces a low-fr equency test tone. Th e range of these tests is fr om 100Hz down to 20Hz. The frequency of each test is announced bef ore it begins . The fir st test is the highest frequency (100Hz); therefor e, you will be marking the template fr om right to left.

MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM 14 Using the Width Select or Read the following instr uctions carefully . The example presented ma y not look like the graph you just cr eated. F ocus on the concepts and techniques pr esented. Specific cases will be discussed later .
15 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM T he pointer on the slider will indicate the cor rect width setting. Enter this number in the W idth f ield of the Measurement T emplate. In our example, the width is 12.5%. It is not realistic to expect a perf ect fit.
16 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM Example 2. T wo Response Peaks: Character ized by two r esponse peaks, approximately equal in amplitude and width. This requir es that you make a choice between the two peaks. In situations like this, the higher frequency peak will alwa ys be more audible and objectionable .
17 MODULUS II HOME THEA TER SYSTEM 1. Select a new test position: Cue the test track corr esponding to the center frequency of the dip . In the fir st example in Figur e 25, you would play T rack 13 (56Hz). Press Play › .Y ou will see a r eading v er y close to what you had befor e.
