F or that reason, it is important that only the cord supplied with the unit (or a direct replacement of identical capa- city) be used.
20 SY STEM CONFIGURATION System Configuration Once the speak ers have been placed in the room and connected, the remaining steps are to pro- gram the system configur ation memories . First T urn On Y ou are now ready to power up the A VR to begin these final adjustments .

OPERA TION 31 Operation Basic Operation Once you have completed the setup and configu- ration of the A VR, it is simple to oper ate and enjoy . The following instructions should be fol- lowed for you .

OPERA TION 33 Operation When the 6-Channel/8-Channel direct inputs are in use there is no surround processing, as these inputs tak e the analog output signals from an optional, external DVD-Audio or SACD player , or another source device and carry them straight through to the volume control.
34 OPERA TION Operation T o take advantage of the A VR’ s MP3 capabilities, simply connect the digital (SPDIF) output of a computer sound card able to feed the MP3 for- mat to its digital output, or.
OPERA TION 35 Operation Important Note: When a digital surround source (Dolby Digital, DTS) is played, the letters SBL/SBR for the Surround Back channels will appear only when a DTS ES DISCRETE 6.1 source is played. T hen this surround mode will be indicated in the front display and on-screen display .
36 OPERA TION Operation T he channel output may also be adjusted using the full-OSD on-screen menu system. First, set the volume to a comfortable listening level using the V olume Control ı ) î . T hen, press the OSD button L to bring up the MASTER MENU (Figure 1).
ADV ANCED FEATURES 37 Advanced Featur es T he A VR is equipped with a number of advanced features that add extra flexibility to the unit’ s operation. While it is not necessary to use these features to operate the unit, they provide addi- tional options that you may wish to use .

42 PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE Configuring the Remote T he A VR 430 remote is factory-programmed for all functions needed to operate the unit. In addi- tion, it is also preprogrammed to oper ate most recent Harman Kardon DVD players and chang- ers , CD players and changers , CD recorders and cassette decks .
PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE 43 Progr amming the Remote Although the A VR remote is preprogrammed with an extensive library of codes for many major brands , it is also possible that you may have attempted to program a product that is too new or too old, and thus not all of its commands will be in the code library .

T o correct this problem, first unplug the unit from the AC wall outlet and w ait at least three minutes .
