1 Introduction The APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is de signed to prev ent blackouts, brownou ts, sags, and surges from reaching y our computer an d othe r valuable electronic equipm ent. The UPS filters small utility line fluctuations an d isolates your equipment from large disturbances by internally d is- connecting from the utility line.
2 Positioning the UPS Place the UPS where it will be use d. The UPS is heavy. Select a location sturd y enough to handle the weight. Do not operate the UPS where there is excessive dus t or the temperature and humidity are outside the specified limits.

4 1. Connect equipment to the UPS. Note: Do not connect a laser printer to the UPS. A laser printer draws signific antly mo re power than other types of equipment and may overload the UPS . 2. Add any optional accessories to the Smart-Slot. 3. Using a power cord, plug the UPS into a two- pole, three-wire, grounded receptacle only.
5 2: O PERA TION S MART -UPS F RONT P ANEL Power On Power Off Online The online LED illuminates when the UPS is supplying utilit y power to the connected equipm ent. If the LED is not lit, the UPS is either not turned ON, or is supplyin g battery power.
6 Replace Battery Failure of a battery self-test ca uses the UPS to emit short beeps for one minute and t he replace batt ery LED illuminates. Refer to Trou ble- shooting in this manu al.
