1 Introduction The APC Un i nterru ptible Power Supply (UPS) is design ed to prevent blackou t s, brown o uts, sags , and surges from reaching your computer and other valuable electronic equipment.
2 Mounting the UPS in the Rack Hardwire the Ele ctrical Connection (230V M odels Only) Verify that t he supply line contains a 2 5 Amp circuit breaker BEFORE hardw iring the UPS. Batteries are installed in the UPS upon hardwiring co mpletion. Incorporate an easy access disconnect device in the fi xed w iring design.
3 Connecting Equipment and Power to the UPS S MART - UPS R EAR P ANEL 1. Connect equi pment to the UPS. 2. Add any option al accessories to the Smart- Slot. The UPS is shi pped wi th the APC Netwo rk M anage- ment card pre- installed. Refe r to the documentation in the literature kit an d/or CD-ROM provided.

5 Automatic Self- Test The UPS performs a self-test automatically when turned on, and every tw o weeks thereafter (by default). During the self-t est, the UPS briefly operates the con nected equipment on bat- tery. If the UPS fails the self-test, the repl ace ba ttery LED illuminates and im- mediately returns to online operation.
