1 Introduction The APC Un interru ptible Power S upply (UPS) is designed t o prevent blackouts , brownouts, s ags, and surges from reaching your computer and other valuable electronic equipment. The UPS filters small utility line fluctuations and isolates your equipment from large disturbances b y internally dis- connecting from the utility lin e.
2 Positioning the UPS Place the UPS where it will be used. The UPS is h eavy. Select a loca tion stur dy enough to h andle the weight. Do not operate the UPS where there is excessive dus t or the temperature and hum idity are outside the specified limits.

4 1. Connect equ ipment to the UPS. Note: Do not connect a laser prin ter to the UPS. A laser printer d raws signi ficantly m ore power than other typ es of equipm ent and may overload the UPS . 2. Add any option al accessories to the Sm art-Slot. 3. Using a pow er cord, plug th e UPS into a two-pol e, three-wire, groun ded receptacle only.
5 2: O PERA TION S MART -U PS F RONT P ANEL Power On Power Off Online The online LED illu minates when the UPS is suppl ying utility power to the connected equipment. If the LED is not lit, the UPS is eit her not turn ed ON, or is su pplying battery pow er.
6 Replace Battery Failure of a battery self-test cause s the UPS to emit short bee ps for one minute and the repl ace battery LED illuminates. Re fer to Trouble- shooting in this manual. Battery Disconnected The replace batte ry LED flashes and short beep is emitted every two seconds to indicate the battery is dis connected.

9 4: S TO R AG E , M A INT ENA NCE , A ND T RANSPORTING Storage Store the UPS covered and positioned as for proper functioning, in a cool, dry location, with the bat - teries fully charged. At -15 t o +30 ° C (+5 to + 86 ° F), ch arge the UPS battery every six months.
