2 Installing the R ails in the Rack The UPS fits in a standard 46. 5-cm (19- inch) rack. Mounting brack ets and rails are packaged s epa- rately within the main box .
3 Mounting the UPS in a Rack The UPS is heavy. To lighten it, y ou may rem ove t he battery before mounting the unit in the rack (Steps 1 an d 2). Install the UPS at or near the bottom of the rack . Check to make sure the rack w ill not tip after installing the UPS into the rack.

5 1. Connect equi pment to the UPS. Note: Do not connect a laser printer to the UPS. A laser printer d raws signifi cantly more p ower than other type s of equipm ent and m ay overload the UPS . 2. Add any option al accessories to the Smart-Slot. 3. Using a pow er cord, plug the UPS into a tw o-pole, three-wire, grounded receptacle only .
6 2: O PERA TION S MART - UPS F RONT P ANEL 230/100V Model s 120V Models Power On Power Off Online The online LED illuminates when the UPS is supplying utilit y power to the connected equipment. If the LED is not lit, the UPS is either not turned ON, or is supplying battery power.
7 AVR Tri m This LED illuminates to indicate the UPS is compensating for a hig h utility voltage. AVR Boost This LED illuminates to indicate the UPS is compensating for a low utility voltage. On Battery When the on batter y power LED is lit th e UPS i s supplying battery power to the con nected equipment.

10 4: S TO R AG E , M A INT ENA NCE , A ND T RANSPORTING Storage Store the UPS covered and positioned as for proper functioning, in a cool, dry location, with the bat- teries fully charged. At -15 t o +30 ° C (+5 to + 86 ° F), charge th e UPS battery every six months.
