StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 2 Preparing for Setup The StorTrends 1300 includes a set of rail a ssemblies, includi ng mounti ng brackets a nd mounting screws you will need to install the syste m into the rack . Please read this document in its entirety before yo u b egin the installation procedure.
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 3 Rack Mounting Considerations Feature Descri ption Ambient Operating Temperature If installed in a closed or multi-unit r ack assembly, th e ambient operating temperature of the rack environment may be greater than the ambient tem perature of the r oom.
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 4 Installing the Inner Rails Both the left a nd right side i nner rails have been pre-attache d to the chassis . Proceed to the next ste p. Installing the Outer Rails Begin by m easuring the distance fr om the front rail to the rear rail of the rack.
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 5 Locking Tabs Both chassis rails have a locking tab , which serves two functions. The first is to lo ck the server into place when installed an d pu shed fully into the rack, which is its normal position. Secondly, these tabs also l ock the server in place when fully extended from the rack.
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 6 Installing the Server into the Rack You should now have rai ls attached to both the chassis a nd the rack u nit. The next st ep is to install the server into the rack. Do th is by lining up the rear of the chassis rails with the front of the rack rails.
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 7 Installing the Server into a Telco Rack To install the StorTrends 1300 in to a Telco type rack, use two L-shape d bra ckets on either side of the chassis (four total). First, determine how far the server will exten d out the front of t he rack.

Step Two: Get the IP address Once the StorTrends® Storage Applianc e is fu lly operational, you will see th e following screen.

StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 14 Using the Quick and Easy Setup Wizard If the storage has not been configured on your Storage Appliance, you will be prompted to configure the Email Alerts Settin gs . Once the Ema il Alerts Setting s has been completed, you will be prompted to run the Wizard .
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 15 To enab le Email Alerts notification , left click the box next to ‘ Enable Email alert notifications ’. You can configu re up to four Email addresses. StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 17 Step Two: RAID Level Once you initiate the Quick Start Set up Wizard, you are provided the following options: • RAID 0 • RAID 1 • RAID 5 This step will create a Logical disk and a storag e poo l from all the physical hard disk drives available in the system/co n troller with the RAID type you specify.

StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 19 Step Four: Allocating Space Enter the size of your desired Volum e. The default volumes cannot exceed the availab le physical space due to the fact that they are both using Exact Provisioning by defa ult. Click Next .
StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 20 Step Five: Summary View A summary will appear. Click the Finish button. Your Storage Appliance will be automatically co nfigured based o n the values th at you have entered . Note: You can cha nge the defaul t names for volumes and c ontainers at t his point .

StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 23 Using the Advanced Setup Wizard The Advanced Set u p Wiz ar d a llows you t o have m ore control of the storage being configured. Step One: Advanced Wizard If the storage has not been configured on your Storage Appliance, you will be prompted to run the Wizard .

StorTrends® 1300 Set Up Guide 27 Step Four: Configure SAN Volume STOP! This section allows you to configure a SAN Volume and a SAN Target on to the Storage Appliance. If you hav e configured this storage appliance as a NAS Only unit, SKIP THIS STEP and go to Step Five: Configure NAS Volume .

The SAN Volume Name must be alphanumeric, not ha ve any spaces and be between one an d 63 characters in length. Enter Volume Size In the Enter Volume Size field, enter the size that you want to use for y our SAN Volume .

If you only want to configure this storage appliance as a SAN Only unit, SKIP THIS STEP by clicking the Finish button and go to Step Six: Summary View and Status .
