- 20 - Discolour ed W a ter • W ater rich in iron or other minerals can produce red or brown st aining. Heating water generally worsens this situation. • Black water can be an indication of organic cont ami- nates in the water supply . This can be problematic in areas where the water is obt ained from surface or con- t aminated sources.
- 21 - Wa ter hea ter is noisy: 1. The heater makes sizzling and hissing noises operating. • The accumulation of sediment or lime scale may be the cause. The sounds are normal; however , the t ank bot- tom and element s should be cleaned. Follow the instruc- tions given in “Draining, Flushing and Sediment Removal”.
