G06 63 1 2½ " Planer - 1 5 - Functional Overview The Model G0 66 3 Planer allows the user to plane mat erial from the surface of boards in precise increments which are dete rmined by the depth of cut. The depth of cut is adjusted with the cutterhead ele vation handle .
- 1 6 - G0 663 1 2½ " Planer • Inspect your lumber for twisting or cupping, and surface one face on a jointer if neces - sary. • Scrape off all glue when planing glued-up panels. • DO NOT plane more than one piece at a time. • Never remove more than the recommended amount of material on each pass.
G06 63 1 2½ " Planer - 1 7 - Pi tch & Glue Bu ild -up P roblem : Glue and resin buildup on the rollers and cut terhead will cause o verheating b y de creasing cut ting sharpness while increasing drag in the feed mechanism. The result can includ e scorched lumber as well as uneven knife marks and chat - ter .
- 1 8 - G06 63 1 2½ " Planer The species of wood, as well as its condition, has a dramatic effect on the depth of cut the planer can effectively take with each pass. The harder the wood (as illustrated by its shear strength), the shallower the depth of cut should be.
