Keep rid ers off. • Riders on the machine or attachment may be struck by foreign objects or thrown off the machine causing serious injury . • Riders obstruct the operator ’s view resulting in the machine being operated in an unsafe manner .
Safety - 9 SAFETY • Shut off fuel while storing or transpor ting. Do not store fuel near flames or drain indoors. • Park machine on level ground. Never allow untra ined personnel to service machine. Understand service procedure before doing work. • Use jack stands or lock service latches to support components when required.
Operating - 10 OPERATING • Never remove the fuel tank cap or add fuel with the engine running. Allow engine to cool before refueling. • Never add fuel to or drain fuel from the machine indoors. Move machine outdoors and provide adequate ventilation.
Operating - 1 1 OPERATING • Be careful not to spill fuel on machine. Fuel may damage surface. Wipe up spilled fuel immediately . • Prolonged exposure to sunlight will damage the hood surface.
Operating - 12 OPERATING Adjusting Seat Front-to-Back Adjus tment 1.Park machine safely . (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.) 2.Sit on the oper ator seat. 3.T o adjust the seat front to back, pu sh and hold the seat adjustment le ver (A) away from the seat.
Operating - 13 OPERATING 4.Push ROPS into upr ight position. 5.Install drilled pin (B) into holes o n left and right side of ROPS, and secure in place with spring pins (A). 6.Check the ROPS bolt to rque if the ROPS is loose. Lowering ROPS 1.Park machine safely .

Operating - 15 OPERATING T e sting Seat Sw itch Procedure 1: 1.Sit on the oper ator seat with the motion control levers in the neutral detent position (standard levers) or neutr al lock position (optional “over the lap” lev ers). 2.Unlock the park brake.
Operating - 16 OPERATING Using the Key Switch NOTE: Machine will only start if th e following conditions exist: • Park brake is locked. • PT O is disen gaged. • Motion control leve rs are in the neutral d etent position (sta ndard levers) or neutral lock position ( optional “over the lap ” levers).
Operating - 17 OPERATING Using the Choke Engage Choke: • Pull choke knob (A) out. Disengage Choke: • Push choke knob (A) in. Using the Motion Contr ol Levers NOTE: T wo ty pes of control levers are available - stan dard “center steer” levers and optional “o ver th e lap” levers.
Operating - 18 OPERATING Forward and Reverse Motion: 1.Move throttle lever to the fu ll-throttle position. 2.Unlock the park brake. 3.Op tional “o ver the lap” levers: Move b oth motion control levers from the neutral lock position inward to the neutral position.
Operating - 19 OPERATING Sharp Left T urn: • Push right control lever forward and pull left control lever rearward at the same time. Sharp Right T urn: • Push left control lever forward and pull right control lever rearward at the same time. St arting the Engine 1.
Operating - 20 OPERATING Engaging Mower 1.Adjust mower deck to desired cutting he ight. 2.St art engine. 3.Move throttle lever to the 1 /2 - 3/4 throttle position.
Service Intervals - 21 SERVICE INTERVALS • Mow tall or wet grass twice. Cut grass at half desired height – then cut at desired height. • T ravel slow when mowing tall, thick or wet grass. • A void damaging grass by slipping or skidding machine dr ive wheels.
Service Lubrication - 2 2 SERVICE LUBRICATION Service Lubrication Grease Use a general all-purpose grease with an NLGI grade No. 2 rating. Wet or high speed conditions may requi re use of a special-use grease. Contact your Servicing dealer for information.
Service Engine - 23 SERVICE ENGINE 6.Grease traction drive belt tension arm pivot (G). 7.Grease mower deck drive belt tension arm (H). NOTE: Use spray lubricant to lubricat e the following items: 8.Lubricate mower deck idler pulle ys (K-M). 9.Lubricate hydrau lic pump control arms (N).

Service T ransmission - 26 SERVICE T RANSMISSION Service T ransmission Hydraulic Oil Use only 5W-50 or 15W-50 all synthetic oil. Checking Hydraulic Oil Level 1.Park machine safely . (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.) 2.Unscrew and remove hydraulic reserv oir cap/dipstick (A) from hydraulic oil reservoir .
Service T ransmission - 27 SERVICE T RANSMISSION 1 1.St art engine. 12.Move throttle lever to 3/4-throttle p osition. 13.Unlock the park brake. 14.Run engine in full forward position for several minutes and th en cycle motion control levers forward and rearward seve ral times.

Service Electrical - 41 SERVICE ELECTRICAL Installing: 1.Install battery (H) using J-bolts (G), bracket (F), washers and nuts (E). 2.Connect the positive batte ry cable (D) first, then the negative cable (B). 3.Apply petrole um jelly or silicone spray to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
