Unpack Unit - Remove shr ink wrap a nd packaging materials . 2. Remove Uni t From Container - Open Bypass V alves (dump va lves) (See Movin g the Unit with the Engin e Off on p age 14).

GB - 12 Throttle Lever The throttl e lever c hanges the engine speed. Mo ve the thrott le lever to Fas t (1) to increas e engine speed. Move the lever to Slow ( 2) to decreas e engine speed. Power T ake Off (PT O) Switch Power take off (PTO) switch eng ages an d disengag es the mo wer blades.
GB - 13 FILLING FUEL T ANK Add fuel to Fuel T ank as need ed. See your Engine Manual for correct type and grade of fuel. T o add f uel to t he fuel t ank: 1. Place u nit in an o pen or wel l-ventilated open are a. 2. S to p the engi ne. 3. Clean the fue l cap and the area around the fuel cap to prevent d irt from en tering the fue l tank.
GB - 14 4. Lower the attachment. 5. T urn the i gnition key to the “Off” pos ition and remove the ke y . MOVING THE UNIT WITH THE ENGINE OFF IMPORT ANT : Neve r tow unit. 1. Shut OF F engine. 2. Place s eat in the servi ce position . See Service Posi tions on page 17.

GB - 19 BATTERY Unit come s equippe d with a maint enance- free battery that requi res no reg ular mainten ance exc ept clea ning the terminals . Remove Battery 1. Shut OFF engine. E ngage parking brake. Re move the ig nition key . 2. Place s eat in the servi ce position (See Se rvi ce Posi tions on page 17 in Mainte nance ).
GB - 20 5. S tart engine ( refer to Op eration Sec tion). If eng ine will not s tart after several tr ies, unit or battery may need ser vice. 6. After engine starts, leave ca bles co nnected fo r one to two m inutes. 7. Disconn ect cables in revers e order .
GB - 21 Eliminati ng Excessive Creep ing of the Unit (Figure 1 1) 1. If hydra ulic sys tem is col d, run unit fo r a minimu m of five min utes, then shut OF F engine. 2. With the unit up to and facing a wall, jack the unit up so t hat bot h dr ive wh eels ar e of f t he gro und.
GB - 22 2. Remove the spacer , h andle, and eccentri c spacers from the s teering le ver . NOTE: Position the r ight and left handles at th e same height pos ition. 3. Install the eccent ric spacers, spacers a nd handl e in the appro priate he ight positi on.
GB - 23 2. Remove l ong mower belt from le ft blade spin dle and remo ve from d eck. 3. Slowly rele ase th e tens ion on t he sho rt belt idle r until all the tensi on is remo ved from the spr ings. 4. Remove s hort mower b elt from right blade spindle and from deck.
GB - 24 Removing the Mower Deck 1. Remove PTO (long) mowe r belt. See R eplacing Mower Belts on page 22 . 2. Remove link c hains from mower lif t arms . Not e hole loca tion on mow er lift arms fo r replace ment. 3. Remove mo wer mounting arms from frame.
