Unpack Unit - Remo ve shrink wrap and packaging materials. 2. Remov e Unit F rom Container - Open Bypass V alves (dump v alves) (See Moving the Unit with the Engine Off on page 14).
GB - 12 CONTROLS AND FEATURES See Figure 1 f or Controls and F eatures locations. Safety Interloc k System P erform the f ollowing tests to ensure the saf ety inter lock system is working properly . If the unit does not perf or m as stated, contact your Gr av ely dealer for repairs .
GB - 13 NO TE: The engine will not star t unless the steering con- trol le v ers are in the neutral position, the PT O switch is in the “ Off ” position and parking brak e is set. Mower Lift Le ver Use the mow er lift le v er , located on the left side of tractor , to raise and lo wer the mow er deck.
GB - 14 STOPPING IN AN EMERGENCY The unit can be stopped immediately at any time b y turning the ignition key to the "Off" position. STARTING AND SHUT OFF T o star t the engine: 1. Make sure the steering le vers are in neutral. 2. Put the PT O switch in the “ Off ” position.
GB - 15 FOR BEST P ERFORMANCE Cut grass when it is dry . K eep mower b lades shar p . K eep mower dec k properly lev eled. Adjust anti-scalp rollers to pre v ent scalping. Do not set height of cut too low . For v er y tall grass , mow twice. Do not tra v el too f ast.
GB - 16 Gra v ely Dealers will provide an y service which may be required to keep y our unit operating at peak ef fi ciency . Should engine ser vice be required, it can be obtained from a Gra v ely Dealer or the engine manuf acturer ’ s authorized ser vice center .
GB - 17 7. Add new oil to the oil tank. It will take about 4 quar ts. Use Mobil 15W50 synthetic oil for best pump and wheel motor lif e. 8. Properly dispose of waste oil. MOWER BLADES Remove 1. T urn the engine off. Remove the ignition k ey . Remov e the ignition wire from the spar k plugs.
GB - 18 3. Return seat to operating position. Clean Battery K eep batter y and its ter minals clean. Inspect ev er y 100 operating hours or monthly f or best performance. 1. Remov e batter y from unit. See Remov e Batter y on page 17. 2. Clean terminals and batter y cable ends with wire brush.
GB - 19 STEERING CONTROL NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT If the steering lev ers do not line up (match) or the unit has e xcessiv e creeping when the steering lev ers are in neutral, adjust as f ollows. Adjusting the Steering Lever s to Line Up (Match) (Figure 10) 1.
GB - 20 If tire pressure adjustment does not solv e trac king problem, adjust the limiter bolts on the stop br ack et (Figure 11). F ront bolts adjust forw ard and rear bolts adjust re v erse. Lengthen the limiter bolt (mov e closer to le v er) on side which is too f ast.
GB - 21 4. T urn the retur n nuts clockwise to decrease the distance or counterclockwise to increase the distance until there is 1/16 to 1/8" (1.59 to 3.18 mm) between the return nuts and trunnion. 5. Tighten return nuts together . BELTS Belt Access 1.
GB - 22 5. Remov e old hydro pump belt from right hand h ydrostat sheav e fi rst (Figure 16). 6. Install new h ydro pump belt by positioning belt on sheav es. Put belt onto right hand hydrostat shea ve last. 7. Replace clutch anchor . 8. Replace long mow er belt on mower clutch shea ve.
GB - 23 4. Measure from bottom of mow er blade end to ground. 5. Set h ydraulic lift cylinder so cut of height reads the same as blade height measurement. 6. Loosen the lockn uts on the side where the chains are slack and slide the bolt do wn the slot until the chain is tight.
