GB - 6 AL W A YS k eep hands and feet a wa y from all rotating par ts during operation. Rotating par ts can cut off body par ts. AL W A YS k eep hands awa y from all pinch points. DO NO T touch unit par ts which might be hot from operation. Allow par ts to cool bef ore attempting to maintain, adjust or service.
GB - 7 When practical, remov e gas-pow ered equipment from the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground. If this is not possible, then refuel such equipment on a trailer with a por table container , rather than from a gasoline dispenser nozzle.
GB - 8 TOOLS REQUIRED • Adjustable wrench • P etroleum jelly or dielectric grease. UNPACK UNIT Remov e unit and all other components from the shipping container . Engage transmission bypass le v er (see Moving The Unit Manually on page 11). Push unit from container onto a lev el surface.
GB - 9 CONTROLS AND FEATURES (FIGURE 3) Safety Interloc k System P erf orm the following tests to ensure the safety interloc k system is working properly . If the unit does not perform as stated, contact your Gra v ely dealer for repairs . NOTE: With the parking brake engaged, the steering lev ers are lock ed in neutral.
GB - 10 Throttle Le ver (Item 3) Mov e throttle lev er to CHOKE to star t a cold engine. Mov e throttle lev er to F AST position to increase engine speed. Mov e throttle lev er to SLOW position to decrease engine speed. Forward and Re verse P edal (Item 2) Press front of pedal down to mov e unit forw ard.
GB - 11 MOVING THE UNIT MAN UALLY Disengage transmission bypass le v er to drive unit and engage transmission bypass lev er to push unit manually (figure 4). SEAT ADJUSTMENT 1. Remov e detent pin from unit (figure 5). 2. Tip seat forw ard. 3. Loosen mounting hardware and slide seat forw ard or backw ard to desired position.
GB - 12 IMPORTANT: Proper maintenance can prolong the life of unit. The following chart shows the recommended service schedule. Refer to the maintenance instructions in the Engine Manual for additional information. IMPORTANT: Do not place unit on end.
GB - 13 25 Hours or Every Season Check Battery K eep battery and battery ter minals clean (see Cleaning Battery and Battery Cables on page 20). Lubricate Unit Apply grease to two front wheel zerks, steering gear , and pinion. Clean Air Filter 1 Clean air filter (item 2).
GB - 14 REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE HOOD (927064) T wo clamping knobs hold the hood to the unit. T ur n clamping knobs counterclockwise to remov e and clockwise to install (figure 7). REMOVE AND INSTALL MO WER DECK (Figure 8 and 9) Remove 1. Remov e PT O belt (see PTO Belt Replacement on page 21).
GB - 15 LEVELING MO WER DECK AND ADJUSTING MOWER DEC K PITCH Adjust on a lev el surface, with tires in fl ated to correct air pressure (see Specifications on page 25), and mower lift lever in the middle position. Leveling Mo wer Deck NOTE: Cutting height should be within 1/4 in.
GB - 16 Adjusting Mower Dec k Pitch NOTE: The front blade cutting height (item 4) should be 1/16 – 3/8 in. (1.59 – 9.53 mm) lower than the rear blade cutting height (item 6) (figure 12). 1. With the end of the mower b lade(s) f acing forw ard, measure distance from bottom of mower b lade(s) to the ground at front of mower dec k.
GB - 17 MOWER BLADE REPLACEMENT 28-Inch and 32-Inch Mo wer Decks (Figure 15) Remove 1. Place mower lift lever in the highest position. 2. Block mower blade (item 2) to pre v ent rotation. 3. Remov e mower blade (item 2) from clutch (item 1). Install 1.
GB - 18 SHARPENING MOWER BLADE 1. Remov e mower b lade from unit (see Mower Blade Replacement on page 17). Grav ely recommends having mower b lades sharpened by a professional. Contact your Grav ely dealer. Discard mower b lade if (figure 17): • more than 1/2 in.
GB - 19 SERVICING THE BATTERY NOTE: Unit comes equipped with a maintenance-free battery that requires no regular maintenance except cleaning terminals. Battery Remov al and Installation (Figure 20) Remove NOTE: T ag and mark wires pr ior to disconnecting.
GB - 20 Cleaning Battery and Battery Cables (Figure 20) 1. Remov e battery from unit (see Battery Removal and Installation on page 19). 2. Clean or service batter y awa y from unit. Remov e corrosion from battery ter minals and cable connections with wire brush, then wash with a weak baking soda solution.
GB - 21 HYDROSTATIC BELT REPLACEMENT Remove (Figure 22) 1. Remov e PT O belt (see PTO Belt Replacement on page 21). 2. Push idler (item 5) towards the inside of the unit and remov e hydrostatic belt (item 3) from idler (item 5). 3. Remov e hydrostatic belt (item 3) from engine sheave (item 2) and hydrostatic transmission pulley (item 4).
GB - 22 2. Pull idler (item 3) towards the outside of the unit and remov e PT O belt (item 1) from idler (item 3). 3. Remov e PT O belt (item 1) from mower deck pulley and engine sheave (item 4). Install (Figure 23) 1. Install PT O belt (item 1) on engine sheave (item 4) and mower deck pulley.
GB - 23 T ROUB LESHOOTING PROBLEM PROB ABLE CAUSE CORRECTION Engine will not crank/start. 1. Safety interlock system is not engaged or is faulty. 1. Check safety interlock system (see Safety Interlock System on page 9). 2. Fuel tank empty. 2. Fill fuel tank.
