EN - 8 EMISSION CONTROL SYS TEM This equipment and/or its engine may include exhaust and evaporat ive emissions cont rol system components required to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agenc y (EP A) and/or California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.
EN - 9 Protect eyes, face and head from objects that may be thrown f rom unit. Wear appropriate hearing protection. Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating mower . Avoid sharp edges. Sharp edges can cut. Moving parts can cut of f fingers or a hand.
EN - 1 0 Do not use hitch with bagger at tached. Do not use on steep hills or slopes. Do not park on hills when trailer is attached. Do not use with any ground engaging equipment. NEVER allow children or others in or on towed equipment. On slopes, the weight of the towed equi pment may cause loss of traction and loss of control.
EN - 1 1 S top and inspect equipment if you strike an object or if there is an unusual vibr ation. Repair , if nec essary , before restarting. Never make adjustments or repairs wit h the engine running. Mower blades are sharp and can cut you. Wrap the blade(s) or we ar gloves, and use extra caution when servicing them.

EN - 1 4 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figure 4 for all controls and features locations. Safety Interloc k System Perform the following tests to ensure the safety interlock system is working p roperly . If the unit doe s not perform as stated contact your Gra vely dealer for repairs.
EN - 1 5 Throttle/Choke Lever (915146, 168) Choke (1) – Us e to start a cold engine. Push throttle lever past detent for choke to start a cold engine. Pull throttle lever back past detent to close choke for a warm engine. Fast (2) – Increases engine speed.
EN - 1 6 Seat Adjustm ent (915146, 168) 1. Tip the seat forw ard. See “TIPPING SEA T FORW ARD” on page 22. 2. Lo osen mounting hardw are and slide seat forward or backward to desired position. Tighten mounting hardware (figure 9). 3. Tip seat back.
EN - 1 7 NOTE: If water leaks excessively from hose coupling onto top of deck, coupling may not be fully seated onto was hout port. Turn off water supply and repeat s teps 4 through 6. Use firm pressure while installing coupling onto washout port. 7. From the operators seat, start the engine and engage the PTO.
EN - 1 8 Fuel S t abiliz er Gasoline left in the fuel sy stem for ext ended periods without a stabilizer w ill deteriorate, resulting in gum deposits in the system .
EN - 1 9 MOVING UNIT MANUALL Y (Figure 8) Pull the bypass lever out and lock it in place, and then release the p arking brake to push the unit by hand. Push the by pass lever in to dr ive the unit normally . NOTE: There are two bypass levers; one on each side of the unit.
EN - 2 0 IMPORT ANT : Proper maintenance can prolong the life of unit. The following chart shows the re commended serv ice schedule. Refer to the maintena nce instructions in the Engine Manual for additional information.
EN - 2 1 Each Us e Follow Engine Manual Mainten- ance Schedule Perform scheduled engine maintenance. Refer to Engine Manual for detailed instructions. NOTE: T o drain the oil, remove oil drain cap and attach the oil drain hose, supplied in the lit pack, to the drain plug.
EN - 2 2 TIPPING SEA T FORW ARD (Figure 9) Move steering levers to neutral pos ition and rotate handles outward. T i p seat forward. MOWER DE CK REMOV AL AND INST ALLA TION Remove (Figure 10) 1. Remove PTO belt f rom the engine drive pulley . See “RE PLACING PTO BE L T” on page 29.
EN - 2 3 LEVELING AND ADJUSTING PITCH OF MOWER DE CK NOTE: Adjust on a level surface, with the tires inflated to the correct air pressure. See “SPECIFICA TIONS” on page 34. Three measure ments are required to lev el and adjust the pitch of the mower deck.
EN - 2 4 Adjusting The Mower Deck T o Adjust Mower Blade Height And Pitch (Figure 14) NOTE: Adjusting the mower deck will adjust the height and pi tch of the mower blades. 1. A djust the trunnions first and re-take the three measurements required to level and adjust the pitch of the m ower deck.

EN - 2 6 4. R emove nut and bolt secu ring battery hold down bracket. Save for reinstallati on. NOTE: The bolt securing the battery is mounted through t he underside of the frame. Place hand beneath frame to catch loose bolt. 5. R emove battery from unit.
EN - 2 7 Cleaning Battery a nd Battery Cables (Figure 17) 1. Tip seat forward. See “TIPPING S EA T FORW ARD” on p age 22. 2. Disconnect negative (–) cable first, then positive (+) cable. 3. Clean battery cable ends, negative (–) terminal, and positive (+) terminal with a wire brush and rinse with a weak baking soda solution.

EN - 2 9 REPLACING PTO BEL T Remove (Figure 24) 1. Lo wer mower deck to the gr ound. 2. Remove belt covers from mower deck. 3. Rotate idler arm clockwise until tension is removed from PTO belt. 4. R emove PTO belt f rom left mower deck pulley . 5. S lowly release idler arm unt il tension is removed f rom idler spring.
EN - 3 0 Inst all (Figure 24) NOTE: Do not install PTO belt on left mower deck pulley in step 1. 1. Install PTO belt on engine drive pulley and mower deck. 2. Rotate idler arm clockwise until PTO belt can be rout ed around left mower dec k pulley . 3.
EN - 3 1 IMPORT ANT : NEVER store the engine with fuel in the fuel tank inside of a building with potential sources of ignition. Add Fuel S t abili zer 1. D rain fuel from fuel tank. 2. Allo w the engine to run until it stops. Turn engine OFF when it begins surging to avoid engine damage.
