GENERAL DESCRIPTION EMS , Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (Electrical My ostimula tion) , is a batter y-oper ated pulse gener ator that sends electrical impulses to electrodes attached to the bod y to stimulate motor nerves and cause contraction and relaxation of muscles.
Indications • R elaxation of muscle spasm • Pre vention or r etar dation of disuse atrophy • Increasing local b lood circulation • Muscle re-education • Immediate postsurgical stim ulation.
W ARNING: Do not place electrodes over the carotid sinus nerves, particularly in patients with a known sensitivity to the carotid sinus reflex. W ARNING: Do not place electrodes over the neck or mouth.
W ARNING: Electrode placement and stimulation settings should be based on the guidance of the prescribing practitioner . W ARNING: Keep this device out of the reach of children. W ARNING: Use this device only with the leads and electrodes recommended for use by GF Health Products, Inc.

T his device creates electrical impulses w hose intensity , duration, and modulation can be altered. T he device controls are easy to use and the slide co v er protects accidental chang es in settings.
EXPLANA TION OF KEY / KNOB CONTROL FUNCTIONS DOWN K ey This key decreases the setting of treatment parameters. * This key regulates the number of pulse width, pulse rate, and cycle on/ramp/off time. *Decrease by pressing the DOWN key: The width can be adjusted by 10μ/step.
A TT ACHING THE LEAD WIRES W ARNING: Ensure the device is OFF before connecting the lead wires. W ARNING: Never insert the lead wire plug into an AC power supply socket. Personal injury and damage to the EMS unit could occur . s NOTICE: Use care when you plug and unplug the wires.
application is best accomplished by applying the electrode , then smooth- ly pressing it in place from the center outwar d. • When r emo ving electrodes, always r emo ve by pulling in the dir ection of hair growth. • It may be helpful to rub skin lotion on electrode placement ar ea when not wearing electrodes.
