Section 1 — General Information Generac GT S “W” Type T ransfer Switch 1.1 I NTRODUCTION This manual has been prepared especially for the purpose of familiarizing personnel with the design, application, installation, operation and servicing of the applicable equipment.
Generac ® Pow er Systems, Inc. 3 2.1 I NTRODUCTION T O I NS T ALL A TION This equipment has been wired and tested at the factory . Installing the switch includes the following procedures: • Mounting the enclosure. • Connecting power source and load leads.
4 Generac ® Pow er Systems, Inc. Use a torque wr ench to tighten the conductors, being sure not to overtighten, or damage to the switch base could occur . If undertightened, a loose connection would result, causing excess heat which could damage the switch base.
Generac ® Pow er Systems, Inc. 5 3.1 F U NCTIONAL TE ST S AN D ADJ US TM ENTS F ollowing transfer switch installation and interconnection, inspect the entire installation carefully . A competent, qualified electrician should inspect it. The installation should comply strictly with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
6 Generac ® Pow er Systems, Inc. • Window “ A ” OFF , W indow “B” ON - LO AD terminals (T1, T2) are connected to EMERGENCY terminals (E1, E2). Do not use excessive force when operating the transfer switch manually or the manual handle could be damaged.
