10 F r eezin g guide lin e s Fr eez er bur n? F reezer burn occurs when air reaches the surf ace of the f ood. The cold, dr y air in the freezer causes the f oodstuff to dr y out in spots and lose quality . While freezer burn ma y not taste good, it does not make the f ood unsaf e.
