1. Intr oduction 1-1 INTRODUCTION The Quantum P70iX is designed to meet the unique requirements of the digital print marketplace. It is designed to suppor t all commonly required punching patter ns, includ- ing three-hole, comb , V eloBind, T win-Loop wire, and Color Coil.

These f actors include customer requirements f or hole quality , throughput mater ials (paper/transparen- cies/cov ers), toner cov erage on the printed page, and en vironmental f actors.

OPTIONS AND A CCESSORIES: Die Sets: The GBC Quantum P70iX A utomatic Punch is capable of punching a v ar iety of hole patter ns commonly used in binding toda y , by simply changing the Die Set. Die sets can be changed in seconds without tools. A significant f eature of the Quantum P70iX is that it uses GBC Magnapunch Die Sets.
4. Options and Accessories 4-2 OPTIONS AND A CCESSORIES continued Die Sets Storage: Helpful Hint : The GBC Die Set Storage Cabinet # 7703207 is an e xcellent wa y to store all of your interchangeab le die sets for the Quantum P70iX (see figure 3).
5. Home Screen 5-1 HOME SCREEN The Home Screen is the star ting point for oper ation of the Quantum P70iX. At this screen, you are ab le to see the job that the Quantum is ready to r un. In the e xample abov e, the Quantum is setup to run: • A paper size of 8.
5. Home Screen 5-2 HOME SCREEN continued Other commands from the HOME SCREEN are: MODE: allows y ou to select between A utomatic or Manual. Automatic Mode means the Quantum will continue to run non-stop as long as you place paper on the Input Belts and remov e the punched stack of paper from the Output Belts.

Home Screen 5-3 HOME SCREEN continued Other commands from the HOME SCREEN: Y ou ha v e constant control of the Speed by controlling the LPM or Lifts P er Minute and the siz e of each Lift by adjusting the n umber of sheets per Lift. Lifts P er Minute (LPM) is controlled b y pressing the left – r ight arro w buttons .
5-4 5. Home Screen At the Job Manager Screen you are ab le to scroll between sav ed jobs (1 – 12) by simply pressing the right-left and/or the up/down b uttons. In the example abov e, JOB 1 has been highlighted. T o select this job and continue, simply press “ GO JOB 1 ” button.

In the example abo v e, the Punch Edge paper dimension has been selected and currently reads 11 ” . Alter nativ ely , the dimension can be entered directly using the numeric ke ypad.

5-7 5. Home Screen EDIT OR SCREEN In the e xample abov e, the Punch Die type has been selected and currently reads PB .141. See T able 1 f or the Die Sets a vailab le for the Quantum. Once all three settings are correct, press the “ SA VE ” button which will return to the Job Manager Screen.
5-8 5. Home Screen Selection of a new Die Set will prompt the Die Set screen to come up . This screen will prompt you to remo v e the proper Punch Pin numbers f or the paper size y ou are running. In the e xample shown, there are two possib le pin configu- rations with this Die Set and P aper combination.
