4 Using the Control Panel Using the Control Panel ■ T o save energy , the control panel goes dark after 13 minutes of inactivity . P ress any button to wake it up. ■ T o switch the screen from displaying one photo at a time to 9 photos at a time, press Display/Crop 3 times when viewing your photos.
Adjusting the Control Panel 5 Y ou may see the following icons on the screen: Adjusting the Control Panel The control panel is adjustable. T o raise it, lift it as shown below .
6 Loading Paper Loading Paper Y our pr oduct has two paper trays. The main tray is for letter-size, legal-size, A4, or 8 × 10-inch paper . Y ou can load up to 120 sheets of letter-size or A4 plain paper in the main tray . When extended, the tray can hold up to 50 legal-size sheets.
Loading P aper 7 3. Slide the left edge guide against the paper . 4. Adjust the front edge guide to your paper size. 5. Lower the photo tray . Make sure the pa per stack fits under the edge guide.
8 Loading Paper 6. T o load paper in the photo tray , squeez e the edge guides and slide them out. Then insert photo paper with the gl ossy or printable side face-down. 7. Slide the left edge guide agains t the paper . Then adjust t he front edge guide to your paper size.

Placing Originals for Copying or Scanning 11 Placing Originals for Copying or Scanning Y ou can place one or two photos or a document up to letter-size (or A4) on the scanner glass to make color or black and white copies. 1. Open the document cov er and place your original face-down on the scanner glass, with the top against the back left corner .

T o align the print head, if n ecessary , see the online User’s Guide . Checking the Print Head Nozzles If your printouts are faint or hav e gaps in them, the print head nozzles may be clogged.

Checking the Ink Le vels 33 Checking the Ink Levels Y our product will let you kno w when an ink cartridge is low or expended by displaying a message on its screen or on your computer .

Replacing Ink Cartridges 35 Replacing Ink Cartridges Make sure y ou have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Y ou must install new cartridges immediat ely after r emovin g the old one s. Caution: Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to install the ink.
36 Maintaining Your Product 3. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift it straight up. D ispose of it carefully . Do not take the used cartridge apart or tr y to refill it. Warning: If ink gets on your hands, w ash them thoro ughly with soap and water .
Network Setup 37 Network Setup Make sure you follow the instructions on the Start Here sheet to set up your product, choose your connection, and install the software. The on-scr een instructions during the installation process help you set up your network connection.

50 Solving Problems Cannot scan over the network ■ Epson Scan is not available in M ac OS X 10.6; see page 30 for scanning instructions. ■ If you cannot scan from the product’ s control pan el, make sure you r estarted your computer after installing the product software.
