9 2 TRACK This section provides th e inform at ion necessary for setting t he t r ack display conditions f or own ship and other vessels. 2.1 S topping Plott ing of O w n Ship's T rac k 1.
2. TRAC K 10 2.3 T rack Plotting Interval The m emory stores ship's posit ion i n latitude a nd longitude at a sam pling rate set on the OW N SHIP, TARGET PLOT menu. The position data so sto red is used to display past own ship's t rack on the screen.
2. TRAC K 11 2.4 Smoothing Even when the vessel is sailing in a straight lin e the track sho wn on the display looks irregular. T his is due to signal variation of the external navai d. You can compensate f or this irregularity with smoot hing. A smoot hing factor between 1 and 9 is ava ilable.

25 5 RECORDI NG , REPLA YING DA T A 5.1 Formatting M emory Car ds Before you can use a mem ory card (RAM card) w ith t he RP-250, the card m ust be form atted. Form atting prepares the recordin g surface of the card f or use with the system. The RAM card co m es in t hree types shown below.
5. RECO RDING , REPLA Y ING DA T A 26 5.2 Record ing Dat a W hen the track memory becomes full, the oldest track is erased to m ake roo m for the latest . Further, when the m ark memory becomes full you cannot enter another mark unless yo u erase a mark.
27 6 OTHER PLOTTER FUNCTIONS 6.1 Initial Settings An item on the PLO TT ER DISP SELECT menu can be deleted through t he VIDEO PLOTT ER INITIAL SETTING m enu. To restore the item reselect it on the [PLOTTE R DISP SELECT] menu, follo wing paragraph 1.6.

31 7 AIS OPERA TION The AIS (Automatic Identif ication System) feature autom atically provides navigation data on AIS-equip ped ships. AIS sym bol and AI S menus 1-3 are available in the Ra dar/Video Plotter and Video Plott er displays. It is not available in the Ra dar mode.
7. AIS OPERA TION 32 Note 1: The RP-250 continu es to process AIS targets when the AIS f eat ure is switched off. W hen the AIS is again turned on, sym bols are immediat ely displayed. Note 2: AIS symbols are m omentarily erased after the screen is redrawn when bow direction is change d in t he Head-up m ode.

45 8 MAINTENANCE 8.1 Rep l acin g the Battery on th e RP Board A battery installed on the RP board inside the radar displ ay unit preser ves video plott er setting data when the po wer is turned off. The life of the batt ery is about f ive years. W hen the battery voltage is low , NG (No G ood) appears at the diagnost ic test for the RP board.
8. MAIN TENANCE 46 8.3 System Error If t he equipment f ails, the message “RP SYSTEM ERROR” appears (in red) at the bottom right-hand corner of t he display , the equipm ent switches to the radar mode and the aud ible alarm sounds. W hen this occurs, turn the display unit off and on again.
