1. MOUNTING 1.1 Mounti ng Consideratio ns • The radar sen sor is generally inst alled either on top of the wheelh ouse or on the radar mast on a suit able platf orm. Locate the r adar sensor where t here is a good al l-round view . Any o bstruc- tion will cause shadow and blind sectors.
For DRS2D/4D 1.2 Moun ting Proced ure for DR S2D/4D 1. Remove mounting ha rdware at the bottom of the rad ar sensor, f our each of hex bol ts (M10x20), spr ing washers and flat washers. Save the spr ing washers and flat washers to use them to fix the radome base to the plat form, at step 3.
3. Use the hex bolts*, flat washers and spring washers remove d at step 1, and fasten the radome base to the plat form. The torque should be between 19.6-24.5N z m. *If the t hickness of the pl atform is 6-10 mm, use M10x25 bolts (suppl ied). For thi cker platform, us e locally suppl ied bolts.
5. Coat the hex bolt s (4 pcs.) with silicone seal ant. Fasten the antenna radiator to the radia tor bracket with the hex bolt s, flat washers and spring washers suppli ed with the radiat or .
2. Lay the radar s ensor on the mounting plat form, orienti ng it as shown below . (The hinges must face toward the stern.) 3. Insert four hex bolt s (M12 x 60, supplied) and seal washers ( φ 3 0, supplied) from the top of the housing, as shown below .
4. Pas s flat washers (M12, supplie d), spring washers (M12, suppl ied) and nuts (M12, suppli ed) onto hex. bolt s. Fasten by tightening nut s. Do not fasten by tightening the hex. bolt s; seal washers may be damaged. 5. Coat flat washers, spring washer s, nuts and exposed pa rts of bolt s with antic orrosive sealant.
Usin g inside fixing holes of the senso r hous ing If thi s radar is replaci ng a FURUNO radar whose mountin g dimensions are the same as this one (140 x 150 mm) , it may be possible to use its mounting pla tform. This metho d requires removal of the RF unit f rom the radar sensor t o access inside fix ing holes.
1.4 Mountin g of Power Sup ply Uni t PSU-013 (for DRS25A)/PSU-012 (Option) For combin ations shown below, the optional power supply unit PSU-012 (Code No.: 000-011- 756) is necessar y. The PSU-013 i s required for any DRS25A installat ion. *Note: The power supply unit is shipped with 15 A fuse.
2. WIRING The MFDBB, MFD8, MFD12 or PSU-012 connects to t he radar sensor with the t wo-way cable MOD-ASW0001 (MOD-ASW0002 for DRS25A).In order to minimize the chance of pi cking up electric al interf erence, avoid where possible routing the two-way cab le near other onboa rd elec- trical eq uipment.
Wiring for DRS2D/4D/4A/6A/12A with PSU-012 Radar Sensor DRS4A/DRS6A/DRS12A NMEA2000 Equipment : Standard Supply : Optional Supply : Local Supply NMEA2000 Equipment Radar Sensor DRS2D/DRS4D To Multi.
Wiring for DRS25A : Standard Supply : Optional Supply : Local Supply To Multi Function Display Blac kBox MFDBB or Multi Function Displa y MFD8/12 T wo-way cable MOD-ASW0002 cable (10/15/20/30 m) 12.
2.1 Wirin g inside DRS2D/4D Two-w ay cable co nnecti on 1. Unfasten three scr ews at the bottom of the mounting base to remove the fixing plate for the gasket.
6. Slide the gasket on cables so that the amount of cable ab ove the gasket is lower than the RF chassis. Note: If the two-way cable touches the pl atform near the mounting base, wind vinyl ta pe around the cable at the point where it is bent.
3. Insert wi res of cable M12-05BFFM ( φ 6) or CB-05BFFM ( φ 10 ) to the NMEA connector inside the radar sensor , consulti ng the label on the connec tor for location. As for shie ld, use the cable clamp shown below to fasten it to the RF chassi s.
4. Push LAN and POWER cables of the two- way cable and cable M12 -05BFFM ( φ 6) or CB- 05BFFM ( φ 10) into the slit s of the gasket inside the mounting base. Depending on the NMEA2000 cable used, replace the gask et as shown below . Note: The ends of the gasket are dif ferent.
2.2 Wiring inside DRS4A /6A/12A/2 5A Two-w ay cable co nnecti on If you ha ve no NMEA2000 equipment to connect, us e the MOD-ASW0001 cable (standard sup- ply). 1. Open the radar sensor cover by lo osening four bolts, and fix the stay for safet y purpose.
5. Attach the LAN cable of the two-way cable to the LAN termi nal in the rad ar sensor . DRS4A/6A/12A DRS25A 6. Refer to t he illustration shown below , and att ach the gasket to t he two-way cable, i nserting the cable int o the slit s on the gasket.
7. Slide the gasket on cables so that the amount of cable above the gasket is lower than the RF chassis. 8. Push the gasket and washer s into the hole at the bot tom of the radar sensor , then fast en four pan head screws to fi x the plate to the sensor .
the crimp-on l ug (pre-attach ed at the bottom of the ch assis) to the drain wire, and fasten it with the screw s hown below . 5. Depending on the NMEA2000 used, replace the gasket as shown belo w .
2.3 Wirin g of Power Supply Uni t PSU-013 (for DRS25A) 1. Detach the b ody cover by hand. 2. Loosen six pan head scr ews (M3x8) and slide the shie ld cover upward to remove it. 3. Unfasten four p an head screws (M14x10) to remove two cable clamp s.
2.4 Wirin g inside Power Supply Unit PSU-012 (Option) 1. Detach t he body cover by hand. 2. Loosen six pan head scre ws (M3x8) and slide the shield cover upward to re m ove it. 3. Unfasten two pan head scr ews (M4x12) to remove the cable clamp. 4. Connect the c able VL3P-VV -S2X2C-AA 050 ( supplied) to t he power connector i n the PSU- 012.
