2 LifeBook N Series Notebook BIOS N Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup U tility is a program that sets up the operating en vironment for y our notebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factory for nor mal operating conditions, therefor e there should be no need to set or change the BIOS en vironment to operate y our notebook.
3 INFORMATION MENU – V IEWING CURRENT SYSTEM PARAMETERS The Information M enu allows y ou to view the cur rent system parameter s. This is the default screen, and cannot be changed directly . The following tables show the names of the menu fields for the Information men u.

F ollow the instructions for N avi- gating Through The Setup Utility to mak e any changes. (See N avigating Through The Setup U tility on page 2 for more information.
5 Main Menu -> System Date/T ime Su bmenu – Setting the date and time The Syst em Date and Time submen u of the Main menu allows you to set the current dat e and time. Y ou may change each segment of the date and time separately . Mo ve betw een the segments with the [T ab] key , then use the cursor k eys to mov e the values up or d own.
6 LifeBook N Series Notebook BIOS Main Menu -> IDE Settings Submenu – Setting the ti ming and A TI/A T API Device The IDE Settings submenu of the Main menu allo ws you to select a speed for the hard disk drive, which device(s) to use, and whether to support SMART function s.
7 Main Menu -> Language Submenu -> Choosing a Language The Language submenu of the M ain menu allo ws you to select a language to use with the system. Figure 5.
