13 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook BATTERY CHARGING INDICAT ORS Located to the left of each Battery Level indicator is a small arrow symbol. This sy mbol shows whether that specific battery is chargi ng. This indicator will flash if the battery is too hot or cold to charge.
14 LifeBook S7000 Notebo ok Figure 2-10 Keyboard Keyboard USING THE KEYBOARD Y our Fujitsu LifeBook notebook has an integral 84-key keyboard. The k eys perform all the standard functions of a 101-key k e yboard, incl uding the W indows k eys and other special function keys.
15 Getting to Know Y our LifeBook CURSOR KEYS The cursor keys are the four arro w k eys on the keyboard which allo w you t o mov e the cursor up , down, left and right in applications. In programs such as W indows Explorer , it moves the “ focus ” (selects the next item up , down, left, or rig ht).

T ouchpad poi nting device T ouchpad Pointing Device The T ouchpad pointing dev ice built into your Fujitsu LifeBook is used to control the mo veme nt of the pointer to select item s on your displ ay panel. The T ouchpad is composed of a cursor control, two left and right buttons, and a scroll button.

Once y ou hav e connected your A C adapter or charged the internal Lithium ion battery , you can power on yo ur LifeBook noteb ook.

33 Getting Started HIBERNATION (SAVE-TO -DISK) FEATURE The Hibernation featur e sav es y our system ’ s memor y contents to the hard drive as a par t of the Suspend/ R esume mode. 37 User Installable Features Lithium ion Battery Y our LifeBook notebook has a Lithium ion batt ery that pro vides powe r for operating y our notebook when no external po wer sour ce is a vailable. The battery is durable and long lasting , but should not be exp osed to extreme temperatures, high voltages, chemicals or ot her hazards.

51 T roubleshooting LifeBook notebook fails to recognize D VD/CD-R W/ CD-RO M’ s. (co ntinued) W rong drive designator was used for the disc in the applica- tion. V er ify the drive designator used b y the application is the same as the one used by the operating system.
52 LifeBook S7000 Notebook Memory Problems Y our Po wer On scr een does not show the correct amount of installed memory . Y our memor y upgr ade m odule is not prope rly installed. R emove and r e-install your memory upg rade module. (See Memor y Upgrade Module on page 43 for m ore i nfor ma ti on) Y ou have a memory failure.
53 T roubleshooting Po w e r F a i l u r e s Y ou turn on your LifeBook noteb ook and nothing seems to happen. The installed primar y battery is completely disc harged, there is no optional sec ond battery installed or there is no P o wer adapter (A C or A uto/A irline) installed.
54 LifeBook S7000 Notebook Y our LifeBook noteb ook will not wo rk on ba ttery alone. The installed batteries are dead. R eplace the batter y w ith a charged one or install a power adapter . N o batteries a re installed. Install a charged bat tery . The batteries are impr operly installed.
55 T roubleshooting An error message is displayed on the screen during the notebook (boot) sequence. P ow er On Self T est (POS T) has detected a problem. See the P ow er On Self T e st (POST) messages to determine the meanin g and severity of the proble m.
56 LifeBook S7000 Notebook Y our system displa y won ’t turn on when the system is turned on or w hen the system has resumed. The system ma y be password- protected. Check the status indicat or panel to verify that the Securit y icon is blinking. If it is blinking, enter your password.
