2 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS B Series BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operating environment for y our notebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factor y for no rmal operating conditions, therefor e there is normally no need to set or change the BIOS enviro nment to operate y our notebook.
3 1. When you turn on or restart the computer there is a beep and/or the following message appears on the screen: Error message - please run SETUP program Press <F1> key to continue, <F2> to run SETUP 2.
4 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS MAIN MENU – SETTING ST AN DARD SYSTEM P ARAMETERS The Main M enu allows yo u to set or view the current system parameters.
5 System Date: –— –— Sets and displays t he current date. Date is in a month/ day/year numeric format with 2 digits each for month and day and 4 digits fo r year . (MM /DD/YYYY) for example: 03/20/2006. Y ou may change each segment of the date separately .
6 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS Drive0 Submenu of the Main Menu The Drive0 submenu identifies what serial A T A/IDE devices are instal led. Note: A ctual hard drive label shown may vary . De pending on the drive type, informat ion such as cylinders, heads and sectors may or may not be displayed.
7 Exiting fr om Main M enu W hen you have finished setting the parameters on this menu, you can either exit from the setup utility , or move to another menu. If y ou w ish to exit from the setup utility , press the [ Esc ] key , use the cursor k e ys to go to the Exit menu, or press [F10] to exit and sav e.
8 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS ADVANCED MENU – SETTING DEVICE FEATURE CONTROLS The Ad vanced M enu allows y ou to: • Set the communication mode for the parallel p ort and infrared port. • Select between the display panel and an e xternal CRT display .
9 CPU Features When selected, opens the CPU Featur es submenu, which allows setting of Intel Speed- Step features. Al so allows you to enable and disable the On Battery/AC Optimization. USB Features When selected, opens the USB Featur es submenu, whic h allows enabling or disabling USB and SCSI SubClass support.

27 INFO MENU - DISPLAYS BA SIC SYSTEM INFORMATI ON The Info menu is a displa y-only screen that pr ovi des the configuration information for y our notebook. The following table shows the names of the men u fie lds for the Info menu and the information d isplayed in those fields.
28 LifeBook B Series Notebook BIOS EXIT MENU – LEA VIN G THE SETUP UTILITY The Exit Men u is used to leav e the setup uti lity . Follow th e instructions for Navigating through the Setup Utility to make any changes.
29 Load Setup Default s Press the F9 key Selecting Load Setup Defaults wi ll load the factory preset default values for all menu fields, then display the message Load default configuration now? [Yes] [No]. When confirmed the setup uti lity will return to the Exit Menu.
