PenCen tra 200 Softwa re 13 • Simple User-In terfa ce. Jo t uses mode marks to divide the input ar ea in to dif fer ent regions so where you write determines if th e character will be read as upper case, lower case, numeric or a symbol. Jot enables you to use the center ar ea of the screen to get capital letters.

Before Settin g Up the Pen Centra 20 0 15 Chapter 2 Using the PenCen tra 200 This chapter covers the fundamental concepts , basic system operation and use, and system functions of your PenCentra 200. You s hould familiarize yourself with this information before you attempt to operate the system.

Using the Pe n 17 Usin g the Pen 2 You can use the PenCentra pen to generate and capture electronic “ ink ” , to s e lec t items, and to navigate through programs on the pen tablet. The pen can be used like a two button mouse when used in conjunction with th e right-m ous e butto n hotpad.
18 Using th e PenCen tra 200 • The system ha s been in use for some tim e and the pen has no t be e n r ecalibrated. • The system has no t been used for a long tim e and all stored information is lost due to loss of battery power . T o Calibrate th e Pen 2 1.
Inserting/ Removing PC Cards 19 Insertin g/Removing PC Cards 2 There are two PC Card slots in your PenCentra 2 00 to support Type I or Type II PC Cards. Ensure that the card is PC Card 2.1-complia nt and that the proper CE drivers are available to support the card.
20 Using th e PenCen tra 200 Poweri ng t he PenCe ntr a 200 2 The PenCentra 200 can be powered by either its rechargeable battery pack or by AC power adapter. Removing and Installing a Battery Pack 2 To remove the PenCentra 200 battery pack, perform the following steps: 1.
Powering the PenC entra 200 21 To install a new or recharg ed battery pack, slide it into the battery tray and firmly push it in unti l the la tch clicks into pl ace. Charging th e B attery Pack 2 There are two ways to cha rge your battery pack : whi le it is in sta lled in the system o r with an optional battery charger (FPC part number FMW51BC1).

Simply create the database on your desktop computer and then transf er the data to your PenCentra 200.

With Voice Recorder, you can record reminders and ideas. With InkWriter, you can take hand writt en and typed notes and create drawings.

52 Usin g Micros oft CE Appl ications Connecting to Y our Netw ork 3 If you have access to a network, you can send e-mail, access file servers, view intranet pages, and possibly access the Internet. You can connect to your network in one of tw o way s : • Create a dial-up connection using a RAS account.

Micros oft Window s CE Se rvices 57 you ’ ve completed the wi zard, select your device icon in the Mobile Devices folder and then click ActiveSync Options on the Tools menu. If you are synchron izing with a co mputer running W indows 95/98, yo u can also use an infrared connection to synchronize.

In the following example several words are selected, and will be erased with the gesture.

As you have learned earlier you can change th e case of letters in the Correction Win dow by usin g the Case Changing gesture. It is simply an upward vertical stroke while the letter is selected.

Configu rati on Tip s 83 Calculations are performed on numbers with up to two digits after the decimal point and seven digit s before it. The result is limited to the sam e range. Allowed opera tions symbol s a re +, -, × , *, ÷ , :, /, %. The command to perform a calculation is th e equal sign (=) at the end of the formula.
84 Usin g the Han dwriting Recog nition Utilitie s Conversely, if you al ways use CalliGra pher in one and the same mod e and f e el confident usi ng g estures for editing, you ma y w ish to unclutter the task bar. In th is case, remove the unwanted buttons/icons from it.
