19 Getting Ready Load ing the Me mory Card Although you can store pi ctures in the c amera ’s intern al memory, you can stor e many more images on the Memory C ard (so ld separ ately). You ca n use the xD- Pictur e Card and th e SD Mem ory Card with the F inePix A900, F inePix A825, F inePix A8 20, Fin ePix A61 0, and FinePix A80 0.
20 Load ing t he Memo ry Card CAUTIO N Be sure to unlock the protection of the SD Memory Card before inserting it. If it is locked, recording/deleting images, as well as formatting are not available. To unlock the protection, slide the switch back, and the SD Memory Card will work normally.
21 Getting Ready CAUTIO N • When storing Memory Cards, make sure that they are kept out of the reach of children. A Memory Card could be swallowed and ca use suffocation. If a child swallows a Memory Card, seek medical attention or call emergency number right away.

23 Getting Ready Setting the language, date, an d time When usin g the camera for the firs t time after purchasing, the lan guage, da te, and time a re clear ed. Set the langua ge, date, and ti me. 1 screen app ears when turning the camera on. 2 Set the date and time.

30 Taking Pictures ( AUTO Mode) Flash Change the flash mode when you wan t to take pictures without flash. See p.52 for information on flash. CAUTIO N • The image shown on the LCD monitor before the picture is taken may differ in brightness, color, etc.
31 Using the Camera Taking pictures with the focus and exposure locked In th e abov e compo sit ion, th e subj ect s (two pe ople in thi s case) are not in th e AF fra me. Press ing t he shutter b utton halfway at this point will result in the subje cts being out of focus.

33 Using the Camera Adjusting the shot composition Select the LCD monitor display. Press DISP/BACK to cha nge the LCD monitor display. Position the m ain subject at the interse ction of two lines in this fr ame o r align o ne of the hori zontal lines wi th the horizo n.

39 Using the Camera MEMO To erase another frame (file), repeat above steps. When erasing frames (files) is completed, press DISP/ BACK. CAU TION Pressing MENU/OK repeatedly erases consecutive frames (files). Take care not to erase a frame (file) by mistake.
40 Erasi ng the Ima ges/Mo vies MEMO MEMO • W hen using a Memory Card, the image s in the Memory Card are erased. When not using a Memory Card, the images in the internal memory are erased. • S electing BACK returns to single-frame playback without erasing any frames (files).

47 Advanced Features — Photography CAUTIO N • Using the DIGITAL ZOOM allows you to enlarge your subject and shoot it. However, it will lower your image quality. Set the DIGITAL ZOOM when requiring it. • When using DIGITAL ZOOM, an increasing ‘speckling’ effect might be observed in the LCD monitor.

49 Advanced Features — Photography Use this mod e to shoot sunset, ma king the colo rs more v ivid. Use this mode f or shoo ting with a wa terpro of case. It is effective for tak ing more vi vid shots of ocea n blue. Use this mode to take clear close-u p shots when zoom ing up a flo wer.

When the data includes a frame (file) with DPOF settings that were specified on another camera, “ RESET DPOF OK?” appears. Pressing MENU/OK erases all of the DPOF settings already specified for each frame (file).
