Loading P aper 3 Loading Paper Y ou can print documents and photos on a v ariety of paper types and sizes. F or details, see page 6. (F or instructions on loading envelopes, see your online Use r’s Guide .) 1. Open the paper support, pull up the extension, and then tilt it back.

Copying a Document or Photo 7 Copying a Document or Photo F ollow the instructions in this section to position your originals correctly on the scanner glass and make color or black-and-white copies.
8 Copying a Docume nt or Photo Copying Documents and Photos Y ou can copy documents and photos onto letter- or A4-size plain paper or Epson special paper . 1. Load paper in the sheet feeder (see pag e 3). 2. Place your original document on the scanner glass (see page 7).

10 Printing From Your Computer 4. On the Main tab , select the basic print settings. Make sur e you choose the correct paper Type setting for the paper you ar e using (see page 14 for details). Note: For quick access to the most common settings, click the Shortcuts tab and select one of the presets.

Scanning a Document or Photo 15 Scanning a Document or Photo Y ou can use your E pson S tylus NX125/127 Series to scan a photo or document and save it on your computer . The u Scan function lets you scan quickly usi ng preselected settings, or you can use the E pson Scan software to access more advanced featur es.
16 Scanning a Document or Photo Once your image is scanned, you see its icon in W indows Explorer or Macintosh F inder , depending on the option you selected. Scanning With Epson Scan Software Y ou can scan original documents and phot os and save them as files on your computer using the Epson Scan softwar e.
Scanning with Mac OS X 10.6 17 Y ou see the Epson Scan window: 4. Select Full Auto Mode as the M ode setting in the upper right corner . (If y ou are in Home, O ffice, or P rofessional M ode, you see a different E pson Scan window .) 5. If you want to restore faded color in a photo or make other corrections, click Customize .
18 Scanning a Document or Photo Restoring and Correcting Photos Y ou can automatically transform a faded, dusty , or badly expos ed color photo into one with true-to-life color and sharpness as you scan. U se the Color Restoration and Dust Removal options in Epson Scan ’ s F ull Auto Mode.
Maintain ing Your Printer 19 Maintaining Your Printer F ollow the instructions in this ch apter for checking and cleaning the print head nozzles and replacing ink cartridges.
20 Maintaining Your Printer 4. Check the nozzle check pattern that prints to see if there are gaps in the lines. 5. If there are no gaps, the print head i s clean and you can continue printing. If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, clean the print head (see below).
Checking Ink Levels 21 Cleaning takes approximately one minute. The P Power light flashes throughout the cleanin g cycle and stays on green when the cleaning cycle is finished. Caution: Nev er turn of f the printer during head cleaning or you may damage it.
22 Maintaining Your Printer A window may also appear on your computer scr een when you try to print when ink is low . This window can optionally display ink offers and other updates from Eps on . Note: T o disable c hec king for ink of fers or updates from Epson, see the instr uctions in your online User’s Guide .
Replacing Ink Cartridges 23 Replacing Ink Cartridges Make sure y ou have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Y ou must install new cartridges immediat ely after r emovin g the old one s. Caution: Do not open ink cartridge pac kages until you are ready to install the ink.
24 Maintaining Your Printer 4. P ress the y Stop button. If a cartridge is low or expended, the print head moves that cartridge to the replacement position to indicate that it should be replaced. The P Power light starts flashing. If two or more ink cartridges are expended, the expende d cartridge at the far left moves to the replacement position.
Replacing Ink Cartridges 25 6. Before you open the new cartridge package, sh ake it gently four or five times. Then remove the cartridge from the package. Caution: Do not touch the green chip on the front of the cartridge. This can damage the ink cartridge.
26 Maintaining Your Printer When t he P Power light stops flashing and the error and ink lights go out, ink charging is finished. 10. Close the ink cover , then cl ose the document co ver . Caution: Never turn off the your Epson printer while in k is charging or you’ll waste ink.
Solving Problems 27 Solving Problems If you have a problem with your E pson printer , check the status of lights on the control panel to diagnose the cause (see “Error Indicators ” on page 28).

Printing and Copying Problems ■ Make sure y our original is positioned in the front right corner of the glass. If the edges ar e cropped, mo ve your orig inal away from the edges slightly .
30 Solving Problems 3. If paper remains near the sheet feeder , press the paper feed roller le ver inside the sheet feeder to release the jammed paper , then ca r efully pull it out. 4. Raise the paper jam cover , carefully remove the jammed paper , then close the paper jam co ver and turn the printer back on.
Problems and Solutions 31 Print Quality Problems If you have any problems with the copy or print quality , try these sol utions: ■ Make sure the document is placed flat against the document table glass and your Epson printer is not tilted or placed on an uneven surface.
