13 Getting Started T o start, you must first install the 4-AAA batter- ies in the back of the unit by sliding off the bat- tery cover in the direction of the arrow . Place the batteries in the unit following the diagram inside the case. Then, replace the cover .

15 Changing Languages The message language is the language of entry screens, help information, part-of-speech labels, and other messages. The entry lan- guage is the language in which you enter words at entry screens. T o Change the Message Language 1.
16 Finding T ranslations T o translate words, simply enter them at the appropriate entry screen (German or English). 1. Press L Ö SCHEN. 2. T ype a word. T o erase a letter , press ZUR Ü CK. 3. Press EINGABE to view its translation(s). 4. Press to view more.
17 Selecting from T ranslations Another way to find a translation is by high- lighting a word while in a translation. Y ou can only select words that have dictionary entries. T ry this example: 1. T ype a word. 2. Press EINGABE to go to its translation.
18 Finding Phrases Y ou can find German or English phrases by typing any keyword in a phrase. For example, typing find will show to find favor with some- body , find out , and more. Y ou can press MEN Ü and search the list, or you can type a keyword at the entry screen.
