4 P ar ts and Contr ols The user should become familiar with the dry-well calibrator and its parts ( See Figures 1, 2, and 3). 4.1 Rear P anel Pow er Co rd - The removable po wer cord (not shown), attaches to the back side of the inst rument. It plugs int o a standard 115 V A C (optional 230 V A C) grounded socket.
The area around the calibrator must be kept clear to allow adequate v entilation. The air is directed from the bottom to the top and may be ho t. Allo w 6 in ches of open space around the calibrator to allow adequate ventilation. Fuse Holders - On the rear panel are four user accessible fuse holders.
4.3 T op P anel We l l B l o c k - The well block openings are located on t he top of both the cold and hot sides. These openings are for insertion of interchangeable inserts. The inserts are designed to accept probes of var ying diameters. For insert details see Section 4.

Speeding up the calibration process can be accomplished by kno wing how soon to make the measurement. It is recommended that typical measurements be made at the desired temperatures with th e desired test probes to establish th ese times.
9 Calibration Pr ocedure 9.1 Calibration Procedure Calibration of thi s instrument should be performed at re gularly scheduled inter - vals by qualified a uthorized personnel in accordance with your compan y’ s pol - ic y . The follo wing is pro vided as a basis for de veloping your o wn procedure for calibrating this instrum ent.
3. Set the set-point to 100°C and allow adequate time for the block to reach this temperature and stabilize. Adjust the ALPHA calibration parameter (see Section 6.14.3) to make the block temperature as measured with the standard thermometer match the set-point.
10 Maintenance • This instrument has been designed with the utmost care. Ease of operation and simplicity of maintenance have been a central theme in the product dev elopment. Therefore, with proper care the instrument should require very little maintenance.
