1 W elcome t o AquaSmar t™ Thank you for buying a Fisher & P aykel A quaSmar t™ clothes washer . W e are very pr oud of this washer and trust it will serve you w ell for man y years . At Fisher & Paykel we aim to provide innovative products tha t are simple to use, ergonomic and k ind to the en vironment.

3 Installation instructions W ater supply This clothes washer should be plumbed into both a hot and cold water supply otherwise some cycles ma y not function correctly . F or best operating conditions your hot water should be appro ximately 65˚C. Y our hot water should not ex ceed 75˚C or your cold water ex ceed 35˚C.
4 Installation instructions Clothes washer saf ety This clothes washer is not intended for use by y oung children or infirm persons without supervision. Y our A quaSmart™ can only be opened during the initial fill stage. Once the fill is complete, the lid will be locked for safety r easons.
5 Before y ou do your rst wash Y ou o we it to yourself and your Aqu aSmart™ to have it installed correctly by an authorised service agent. Before you star t, it is a good idea to go through the .
6 Getting star ted quickly It is important to sort your clothes, par ticularly by colour , as well as separating out sheets and washing them on the SHEE TS cycle. Jeans also need to be washed separately on the JEANS cycle (refer to page 10 for more details on sor ting and loading).

8 AquaSmart™ controls Easy touch con trols These smooth, easy clean buttons r equire only a gentle touch t o ac tiva te. T o scr oll you need to remove your finger to break contact and touch it again. Once you become ac customed to the soft t ouch technology y ou will find it eff or tless to oper ate.
9 The unique A quaSmar t™ wash The AquaSmart™ w asher has two modes of washing, High Efficienc y and Conventional . B oth modes star t the same way , with a Detergent Activating wash. Detergent Activating wash AquaSmart™ fills the bowl at the selec t ed water temperature , with just enough water so the clothes are saturated.

11 Detergen t Choosing the right detergent Y our A quaSmart™ is a High Efficiency clothes washer and needs Low Sudsing Deter gent to prevent oversudsing problems. This is the same type of deter gent Front Loaders use and are labelled, “Lows Suds” , “M a tic” or “High Efficiency ” .
12 F abric sof tener Choosing the right cycle If y ou wish to use fabric sof t ener you will need to select the F ABRIC SOFTENER option which will give you a deep rinse. If fabric softener is not selected , the softener will not be dispensed. 1 Select your wash c y cle.
13 Choosing your w ash c ycle When you tur n your AquaSmart™ washer on, the main wash c ycles will be display ed. Regular CHOOSE WASH T o view all 10 wash cycles, the Lifestyle cycles and menu options, use the arrow butt ons to scroll to the rig ht.

16 Drip Dr y Selecting Drip Dr y will pause the washer at the end of the rinse, allowing you to remove drip- dry garments befor e the washer goes into final spin. Y our A quaSmart™ will beep and display a message to remind y ou to r emove items. Once the items have been removed press ST ART/P AUSE to begin the spin.

These cycles ha ve been specifically designed by our washing exper ts , with you in mind. W e have incorporated 70 years of washing knowledge into 19 easy to use , prepr ogrammed wash cycles.
22 Lifestyle cycles The Lifestyle cycles are presented in fiv e distinc t categories, to help you to access them quickly and easily . The following pages explain the unique cycles that ar e located within these categories, and how they might be of help.
23 Lifestyle cycles Stains W e recommend that you treat a stain as soon as you can. Ther e are a number of stains that need special treatment due to their unique composition. Some wa ter temperatures can actually set stains rather than remov e them. This is wh y we ha ve carefully designed our preprogr ammed ST AINS cycles for you.
24 Lifestyle cycles Family Some common household washing situations may require extra washing knowledge. W e have created five unique F AMIL Y c y cles to help you with those trick y situations. Duvet/Doona Duvets and doonas can be difficult items to wash as they are bulky and often float out of the water .
25 Lifestyle cycles Spor ts Outdoor ac tivities can create some unique washing challenges. W e hav e created four helpful wash c y cles to quickly deal with these situations, with no think ing required .
26 Settings menu After using your AquaSmart™ w asher you ma y wish to fine -tune some of the options to suit your individual needs . Any options changed in this menu is a permanent change, unless ‘Reset Defaults’ is selected (refer to page 29). T o access the Settings M enu: 1 Turn your AquaSmart™ washer on.
27 Settings menu Balance Recovery When your washer is spinning it can sense if the wash load is out of balance. It will stop and try t o spin up to three times . If the machine still senses an unbalanced load, there ar e t w o options the machine can take: 1.
28 Settings menu Key Lock mode Key lock automatically locks the buttons on your A quaSmar t™ when not in use. This will a void accidental button pushes from items left on the lid of the washer and also from any little fingers. T o turn Key L ock Mode ON or OFF: Access the Settings Menu (refer page 26).
29 Settings menu T rouble Shooting F or help with some of the more common issues you may enc ounter . Access the Settings Menu (refer page 26). Scroll to the TROUBLE SHOO TING option, and pr ess SELECT . Use the SCROLL buttons to scr oll through the information provided.
30 When you have finished the c y cle T urn off the taps to prevent the chance of flooding should a hose burst. Unplug the machine from the wall socket. Cleaning your A quaSmar t™ Before you star t cleaning your A quaSmart™ washer , ensure that it is turned off at the wall or that the Key Lock mode has been activated (refer to page 28).
31 Caring f or your AquaSmart™ washer Cleaning your low profile agitator If y our low profile agitator becomes stained we recommend you use household bleach to clean it. Ensure y ou wear gloves, tip a small amount of household bleach onto a soft cloth and apply to the stain.

35 ABC washing guide T T ablecloths We recommend using the SHE ETS cycle to properly car e for lar ge flat items such as table cloths. Choose SHEETS. T e a T owels T o ensure that bacteria is removed from items such as tea t owels we recommend that you wash these items on the HY GIENE cyc le.
36 Lid lock Y our A quaSmart™ washer is able to lock its lid during hazar dous par ts of the wash c y cle, to provide extra saf et y for you and y our family while it is operating. The Lid L ock symbol (padlock) appears in the top right hand corner of the screen, letting you know a t a glance if you can open the lid or not .
37 Before y ou call for ser vic e Please r ead the follo wing pages befor e you call for service. Y ou can correct many of your machine’ s problems y ourself, using the checklists on the following pages.
38 Before y ou call for ser vic e “I am not getting an y C OLD W A TER” . Check that the cold water supply has been turned on. Y our cold water temperature may exceed the recommended limits (refer to Installation instruc tions pages 2 – 4). Check that the inlet hose filter is not blocked.
39 Solving operating pr oblems Pressing POWER does not turn on machine. Is the pow er switched on at the wall? Unplug from wall . Wait 60 seconds, plug back in, turn on and try again. Could household po wer supply be at fault? T r y plugging in another appliance.
40 Solving operating pr oblems W ash CY CLE TIME longer than usual. If w ater pressure is low , cycle time will increase due to longer fill times . Ensure that inlet hose filters are not blocked. Y our machine may have initiated W ash Recov er y Mode where it has sensed your load is washin g unevenly .
