10. Position smoke alarm to mounting plate and turn clockwise to lock into place. For tamper -r esist, use long-nosed pliers to remove thin plastic from notch on smoke alarm edge. Insert pin into notch on edge of smoke alarm after smoke alarm is positioned properly in base.
3. If smoke alarm does not sound, tur n off power at main fuse box or circuit br eaker and check wiring. Retest smoke alarm. REPLACE OR RETURN THE ALARM IF THE PUSH-TO-TEST FUNCTION DOES NOT OPERA TE PROPERL Y AFTER FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURES OUTLINED ABOVE (see REP AIR below).
TROUBLESHOOTING DANGER: Always turn off power at main fuse box or circuit br eaker before taking tr ouble- shoot- ing action. WARNING: DO NOT disconnect battery or AC power to quiet an unwanted alarm. This will remove your pr otection. Fan the air or open a window to remove smoke or dust.
