Ha rdw a re R e fe ren c e 7 C613-03022 -00 REV K A T -AR040 NSM The A T -AR040 p r ovi des four Port I nterface Card (PIC) expansion b ays for installing PICs. The front panel of the A T- AR04 0 NSM is shown in Figure 2 . The A T- A R040 NSM does not have LEDs.
8 Network Service Module C613-03022- 00 REV K ■ If an A T -AR020 PIC is installed in an A T -AR040 NSM, and operating in E1 mode, you can not install an A T -AR021(S) or A T -AR02 1(U) PIC in the same row of t he NS M. ■ Y ou can install a maximum of four A T -AR027 PICs in an AR745 router fitted with an A T -AR040 NSM.
Ha rdw a re R e fe ren c e 9 C613-03022 -00 REV K A T -AR041 and A T -AR042 NSMs The A T -AR041 NSM pro v ides eight ISDN Basic Rate S/T interfaces. The fr ont panel of the A T- AR0 41 is shown in Figure 3 . Figure 3: A T -AR041 NSM The A T- AR042 NSM provides four ISDN Basic Rate S/T interfaces.
10 Network Service Module C613-03022- 00 REV K Basic Rate ISDN Interfaces Each Basic Rate S/T interface supports two 64 kbit/s B channels and one 16kbit/s D channel, and operates in TE mode only . The switch or router should be configured as a TE for normal operation.
Ha rdw a re R e fe ren c e 11 C613-03022 -00 REV K If you are uns ure of whether to terminat e the line or not, co ntact your ISDN service pr ovider or your authorised Allied T elesis distributor or r eseller . Wa r n i n g Do not attempt to change any jumpers on the NSM while the switch or router is connected to a power suppl y or a live network.
12 Network Service Module C613-03022- 00 REV K T esting an A T- AR041 or A T- AR042 NSM The T est Facility is built into the AlliedW are operating system, and is the best method to verify the correct operation of the BRI interfaces on the A T- AR041 and A T- AR042 NSMs.
