8 II. PREP ARING THE CARPET BEFORE CLEANING V acuum Carpet N O T E : Never use this carpet shampooer/ extractor as a standar d vacuum c leaner . F or best results, v acuum car pets with a v acuum cleaner that has a brush roll. The bristles of the br ush roll help loosen and remov e soil that is deep in the carpet nap.

HO W T O PREP ARE THE CARPET SHAMPOOER/EXTRACT OR FOR CARPET CLEANING IMPORT ANT : For best results, begin with a clean surface by v acuuming surface or item bef ore using the carpet shampooer/extractor . A. Fill the Clean W ater Solution T ank 1) Lift up the tank latch to release the clean water solution tank.
10 Recovery T ank Latch Slide A utomatic Shut-Off The automatic suction shut-off functions when the recov er y tank is full of liquid. This can be detected by a noticeab le diff erence in the motor sound. Immediately turn off the unit when this happens and empty the recovery tank.

Pull up and hold the solution release trigger and apply two spra ying strokes b y moving the carpet shampooer/extractor f orward and then bac kw ard at a moderate pace tw o times .

18 HO W T O MAINT AIN (only f or models that feature a brush roll) Brush Roll Belt (for models with a brush r oll) The brush roll belt on the car pet shampooer/e xtractor drives the brush to agitate, s weep , and comb the carpet nap. Check the belt regularly to be sure it is in good condition.
