DESCRIPTION Ericsson GE’ s M-PD System Pe rsonal Radio is a high- quality , high-performance, two-way , FM, comm unicat ions uni t consis ting of a transmit/r eceiv e circuit with a frequency syn- thesizer cont rolled by a microprocessor .

Assemble these part s into one unit according to the fol- lowing procedure and as sho wn in Figure 1 - M-PD Op erat- ing Controls and Accessories. 1. Screw the antenna or the RF te st connector In its receptacle. A clockwise turn will insert the antenna or RF test connector , while a counter clockwise turn will remove them.
2. U se the DTMF keypad or use the Recall T elephone Number key (RCL) to enter the digits of the te le- phone nu mb er . 3. Press the secondar y key and the n press the SEND key . An optional tone (sidetone) m ay be heard as each digit is transmitted.

The RF power output from Pin 2 of th e TX-Amp module A201 i s conne cted th rough a resist or atte nuator to Pin 1 of the P A module where it is appli e d to t he in pu t of the RF power amplifier stages. The RF power amplifie r stages amplify the input from the TX-Am p module to a typ ical power output le vel of 6 watts at Pin 5.
Synthesizer Circuit The Synt hesizer circu it co ntains P hase-L ock-l oop mod - ule (PLL) A 102, VCTCXO Referenc e Oscillator module A103, TX/RX V oltage Controlled Oscillator modul e (VCO) A106 and a Low Pas s Filter ampl ifie r (LPF). Refer to Fi g- ure 9 - Synthesizer .
