Menu Settings and Explanations Layout With Border Copies with a border around the edges. Borderless Copies without a border around the edges. The image is enlarged a little to remov e borders from the edges of the paper . 2-up Copies multiple page originals onto one sheet.
Menu Settings and Explanations Settings Format Select the format in which to sav e the scanned image. Scan Area Select the sca n area. Auto Cropping: Crops the white space around the text or image when scanning. Max Area: Scans at the maximum scan a rea of the scanner glass or the ADF .
Menu Settings and Explanations F ax Repor t F ax Settings Lis t Prints the current fax settings. F ax Log Prints a tr ansmission r eport automatica lly after y ou send a f ax. Y ou can set to print this report automatically using the f ollowing menu .
Menu Settings and Explanations Printer Settings Paper Source Setting s A4/Letter Switching Enable this feature so that error messages are not displayed even when the paper size setting f or the print job and the paper loaded in the paper source do not mat ch.

Menu Settings and Explanations Eco Mode The following Eco mode settings are available. When these se ttings ar e disabled, t he settings made in C ommon Settings are applied. Sleep T imer Select the time period before the printer enters sleep mode (energy saving mode) when no operations are performed.

Placing Originals Place originals on the scanner g lass or the ADF . U se t he scanner glass for originals that the AD F does not su pport. Y ou can scan multip le originals at the same time with the ADF .
3. Place the originals face up in the ADF . c Impor t ant: ❏ Do not load or iginals above the line just under the d symbol inside the A DF edge guide . ❏ D o no t a dd ori gi nal s w hil e s canning . 4. Slide the ADF edge guide to the ed ge of the o riginals.

Managing C onta c ts Registering a contacts list allows you to easily enter destinations. Y ou can register up to 60 entries in the con tacts list and use i t f or faxin g. Registering C ontacts 1. Press the butt on in Fax mode. 2. Press the button, a nd th en s el ec t Ad d E n t r y .
Registration and Backup of C ontacts Using a Co m p u t e r Y ou can register and back up con t acts on the printer using E psonN et Cong. See the EpsonN et Cong help fo r details. 1. Prepare Sh eet 1 and Sheet 2. Cu t o the margins of Sheet 1 alon g the vertical blue line through the center of the top and botto m cross marks. 2. Place the edg e of S heet 1 o n to p of Sheet 2 an d align the cr oss marks, then tem p oraril y tape the two shee ts tog ether fro m the back.

Connecting to a Standard Phone Line (PSTN) or PBX Connect a phone cable from the telephone wall jack or PBX port to the LINE port on the b ack of the prin ter .
C onnec ting Y our Phone Device to the Printer When using the p rinter and yo ur telephon e on a single phone line, co nnect the telephone to the printer . Not e: ❏ If your phone device has a fax function, di sable the fax function before connecti ng.

Not e: ❏ Distinctive rin g ser vices, o ered by man y telephone c ompa nies (the serv ice name diers by com pan y), allows you to ha ve sever al phon e nu m bers on o ne p hon e li ne. Ea ch n um ber is as si gned a dierent rin g pa ttern. Y ou can use one num ber for voice calls and another for fax calls.
Making Settings for a PBX Phone System Mak e the followin g settings when usin g the prin ter in o ces that use exten sions and req uire external access codes, such as 0 and 9, to g et an ou tside line. 1. Enter Se t u p fro m the home screen. 2. Select Fax S e ttin gs > Basi c Settings > Line T ype .

When yo u set up the fax feature f or the rst time, we recommend using the Fax S e tting W iz ard . If yo u want t o chan ge the Rece ive Mo de s etting s indiv idual ly , follow the steps below .

Receiving F ax es by P olling (P olling Receiv e) Y ou can receiv e a fax st or ed on ano ther fax machine fo r fax polling b y dialing the fax num ber . Y ou can receive a specic document from a fax info rmation service by following the audio guidance o f the serv ice.
U sing O ther F axing F eatures Printing F ax Repor t and List Printing F ax Rep or t Manually 1. Enter Fax from the home screen. 2. Press the OK but ton, and then sele ct Fax Repo rt . 3. Sele ct the report to print, and then f ollow the on -screen instr uction.

Check whic h ink cartridge needs to be r eplaced, pr ess the O K bu tton, and then pr ess the u button . ❏ When r eplacing ink cart ridges before they are expended F ro m the h o me sc re en, sel ect Set up > Maintenance > Ink Car tridge(s) Replacemen t , and then press t he x button.

T emporarily Prin ting with Black Ink - W indows 1. When the following window is displayed, cancel printing. Not e: If you ca nnot ca ncel printing from the co mpu ter , cance l using the print er's con tro l panel. 2. Access the printer driver window .

C onser ving Black Ink when the Black Ink Is Lo w (for Wi n d o ws O n l y ) When b lack ink is running low and ther e is eno ugh color ink r emaining, yo u can use a mixt ure o f colo r inks to create blac k. Y ou can con tinue p rintin g while preparing a replacem ent blac k ink cartr idge.
Impro ving Prin t and Scan Quality Checking and Cleaning the Print Head If the nozzles are clogged, the print outs become fain t, there is visible banding, or unexpecte d colors appear . When print q uality has declined, use t he nozzle check featur e an d check if the nozzles are clogged.
❏ ere are br oken lines or missing segments: e p rint head nozzles may be clogged. Go to the next step . 6. Se le ct Cl ea n th e p rin t hea d . 7. When c leaning is nished, select P rint N ozzle Che ck Pat tern to prin t the nozzle check p attern again.
2. Enter Se t u p fro m the home screen. 3. Select Maintenance > P rint H e ad Alignmen t . 4. Se le ct Ve r t i c a l A l i g n m e n t or Ho r i z o nt a l A li g nm e nt , and then follow the on-screen instruc tions to prin t an alignment pattern.
Aligning the Print Head - Mac OS X 1. Load A4-size plain pape r in the prin ter . 2. Select System Prefere nce s fro m the menu > P rint ers & Scanners (or Pri nt & S ca n , Pr int & Fax ), and the n sel ect th e p rin ter . 3. Click Options & Su pplies > Uti l i ty > Op en P rinter U tility .
1. Open t he ADF cover . 2. U se a so, dry , clean c loth to clean the roll er and the i nt erio r of th e ADF . 3. Open t he doc ument co ver . User 's Gui de Improving P rint and Scan Qualit.
4. Clean the part that i s sho wn in the ill ustratio n. Not e: ❏ If the glass su r face is stained with grease or some other har d-to-remove ma terial, u se a small amoun t of glass cleaner and a so cloth to remove it. W ipe o all remaining liquid.
