26 Maintaining You r Product Checking Ink Levels Y ou can check the ink levels anytime right on the LCD screen. T o check the ink levels with your Windo ws or Mac OS X softwar e , see the instructions in your online User’s Guide . Note: Printing stops when an ink cartridge is expended.

The use of other products may affect your pr int quality and could result in product damage. Y ields vary considerably based on images print ed, print settings, pa per type, frequency of use, and temperature.
28 Maintaining You r Product 4. Squeeze the tab on the car tri dge and lift it up . Dispose of it carefully . Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it. Warning: If ink gets on your skin, wash it off thoroughly with soap and water . If it gets in your eyes, flush them immediately with water .

32 Solving Problems Paper Feeding Problems ■ If paper doesn ’ t feed correctly , remov e the paper and fan the sheets, then reload them and make sure the edge guides are against the paper . ■ Don ’ t load too many sheets at once. Y ou can load up to 250 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of photo paper .
Solving Prob lems 33 ■ If documents don ’ t feed correctly in the Automatic Document F eeder (ADF), make sure the p aper is not bent, folded, or curled. I f paper has ja mmed: 1. Open the ADF cover and r emove any jammed paper . Caution: Do not try to remove the paper without opening the ADF cover or you could damage the mechanism.
34 Solving Problems ■ If you notice light or dark bands across yo ur printouts or they are too faint, run a nozzle check (see page 24) to see if the print head needs cleaning. ■ If you notice jagg ed vertic al lines, you may need to align the print head.
