2 Before You Begin Before You Begin Make sure y ou installed ink cartridges and loaded paper as described on the Start Here sheet. Then follow the instructions in this guide to set up the print er for use on a network. Tip: For a video tutorial and other information about setting up a wireless network, go to: epson.
Choose Your Connection Type 3 Choose Your Connection Type Wireless T o connect the printer wirelessly , see page 4. Note: If you want to print wirelessly but do not have an access point or router , see “Create an Ad-Hoc Wireless Connection” on page 16.
4 Wireless Network Installation Wireless Network Installation T o add the printer to your wir eless networ k, you need to know the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If it has securi ty enabled, y ou also need to know the WEP key or WP A passphrase.
Wireless Ne twork Installa tion 5 3. P ress OK to select Wireless LAN Setup . 4. P ress OK to select Setup Wi zard . 5. P ress u or d to select the name of your wire less network, then press OK . If your network name isn ’ t listed, try the following: ■ Make sure that y our wireless r outer or access point is turned on and working correctly .

Press the x Menu button to switch between uppercase, lowercase, or numeric/special characters. Important : WP A passphrases and WEP keys in ASCII form at are case-sensitive.

If you need to change a setting, press y Back until you see the setting you need to change. 10. Once you have verified th at your network settings are correct, press OK to save the settings and return to the N etwork Settings menu.
8 Wireless Network Installation Connect Wirelessly Using Advanced Setup U se this setup method if your access point or router isn ’ t broadcasting its network name (SSID). 1. P ress the F Setup button on the printer’ s control panel. 2. P ress l or r to select Network Settings , then press OK .
Wireless Ne twork Installa tion 9 5. P ress u or d to select Manual Setup , then press OK . 6. When you see this screen, press OK . 7. P ress u or d to select Infrastructure Mode , then press OK . 8. P ress u or d to select Enter SSID , then press OK .
10 Wireless Network Installation 9. U se the arro w buttons on the printe r’ s control panel to enter your wir eless network name (SSID). P ress the x Menu button to s witch between uppercase, lowercase, or numeric/special characters. Important : Network names are case-sensitive.

Wireless Ne twork Installa tion 13 Select WEP Security Settings 1. P ress u or d to select Alphanumeric if your WEP key is ASCII, or select Hexadecimal if your WEP key is in hexadecimal format. Note: If the WEP key is 5 or 13 characters, it’ s ASCII.

Wireless Ne twork Installa tion 15 4. W ait for the printer to connect to your wireless network (this can take up to 90 seconds). Once it ’ s connected, you se e a green WiFi light on the printer’ s control panel. 5. Continue with “Install Softwar e ” on page 23.
16 Wireless Network Installation Create an Ad-Hoc Wireless Connection U se this setup method if you want to print wirelessly but do not have an access point or router . Important : For Windows ® users: If your computer is connected to a network with an Ethernet cable, you need to disconnect it before ins talling software .

22 Wired (Ethern et) Instal lation Wired (Ethernet) Installation 1. Connect an Ethernet network cable to the LAN (10/10 0) po r t o n y ou r p r i nt e r .
Install Software 23 Install Software F ollow the steps in this section for each computer you want to use with your printer over the network. 1. Insert the printer software CD. 2. Windows Vista ® : I f you see the A utoPlay window , click Run SETUP.EXE .
24 Install Software 5. When you see this screen, click Next to start network setup. 6. Make sur e that your printer is turned on and connected to y our network. 7. When you see the F irewall W arning screen, click Next . Note: If you see a firewall alert message, click Unblock or Allow to let EpsonNet Setup continue.
Install Software 25 8. W ait while E psonN et Setup configures your printer for the network. 9. Do one of the following: ■ If you see the Installation Complete screen, continue with “F inish the Installation ” on page 28.
26 Install Software ■ If no available printers ar e found on your network, see “EpsonN et Setup was unable to find my printe r on the network ” on page 32. ■ If EpsonN et Setup finds more than on e printer on y our network, select the printer you want to configur e, then click Next .
Install Software 27 ■ If you are installing the printer in Ad H oc mode and you see this screen, make sure that your computer ’ s wirele ss adapter is set to acquire an IP address automatically . Then select Acquire the IP Addre ss Automatically using DHCP ( Recommended ) and click Next .
28 Finish the I nstallatio n Finish the Installation F ollow the steps for your operating system: ■ “W in do ws ” b el ow ■ “Macintosh ” on page 29 Windows 1. P r int a test page, then click Finish . 2. F ollow the prompts on the screen to install bonus software and finish the installation.
Finish the Installati on 29 Macintosh 1. Click Save to install an application that allows you to access the printer ’ s memor y card slots o ver the network. 2. Select where you would like in stall the application, then click Save . 3. Click Finish .
30 Finish the I nstallatio n 4. When you see this screen, click Add Printer . 5. F ollow the steps on the right side of the screen to add your EPSON TCPIP printer . Note: It may take up to 90 seconds for your computer to find the EPSO N TCPIP printer on the network.
Troubleshootin g 31 Troubleshooting If you have problems setting up or usin g your product on a network, check these sections for help: ■ “Setup P roblems ” below ■ “P rinting Problems ” on page 33 ■ “Scanning P roblems ” on page 34 This section also explains how to print a N etwork S tatus Sheet (see page 34).
32 Troubleshooting EpsonNet Setup was unable to find my printe r on the network 1. If you see a screen like this one, do one of the following: ■ If you connected the printer wirelessly , verify that the printer is turned on and the green WiF i l ight on the printer’ s control panel is on.
Troubleshootin g 33 Software insta llation fail ed Make sur e that the printer is connected to y our network ( see page 4 for wireless or page 22 for Ethernet).
34 Troubleshooting Printing is slow or the print is cut off F or wireless connections, print a N etwork S tatus Sheet (see below) and check the Signal S trength. If it’ s poor , tr y moving the printer closer to your wireless router or access point.
