5 Before yo u print with PictureMate Pal, yo u need to: ● Load pa per (bel ow) ● Ins e rt your memory card (see page 6) Whe n you finish p rinting, you c an remove your memory card. (See page 7.) PictureM ate Pal turns of f it’s scree n automatically t o save power .

Removing Your Memor y Card When you are ready to remo ve a memory card, first make sure the memory card light is not flash ing. Caution: Do not remove a card while the me mory card light is flashing; you may los e photos on your card.
8 Saving Power If you ar e not using Pict ureMate Pal, the screen goes dark after 1 3 minutes. P ress any button to turn it b ack on..
9 Picture Mate Pal’s ph oto viewer screen m akes it easy to select the photos yo u want to prin t. Yo u c a n : ● Pr int all the phot os on your card (t o the right) ● Sele ct individual p hotos.

11 Storing and Di splaying Your Picture Mate Pal Prints Photos p rinted on Pictu reMate Pal photo paper are beautiful, long-lasting images. F ollow these guid elines to make sure t hey will look great for generati ons. Storing Y our Prints ● Do not r ub t he pri nte d side of t he ph oto .
12 By pressi ng the Menu or Layout button, you c an: ● Choos e from a variet y of layouts (see below) ● Print in black and white or sepia (see page 1 3) ● Print photos with the ir date (see page 1 3) ● Enhan ce photos (see page 1 4 ) Note: These feat ures do not change you r original digi tal photo file; they affe ct only your pri nts.
13 Printing Photo s in Black and White or Sepia Y ou can print yo ur photo in bl ack and white or in a sepia ton e even when the original is in color . Y our original image is not change d. Note: A sepia print has a brownis h, old-fashioned p hoto look.

15 T o us e Pict ureM ate Pal wi th your compu ter, you must first: ● Install t he PictureMate P al software on your computer f rom the Pictur eMate Pal CD as de scribed here . ● Conne ct PictureMate Pal to your co mputer w ith a US B cable. If you don’t have a USB cable, you can buy one from you r local comp uter dealer or f rom Epson.
16 4 After W indows star ts up, i nser t the Pi ctureMate P al CD in you r CD -ROM or D VD drive. 5 Wi th Windo ws Vist a, you see thi s screen Click Run Epsetup.exe , then c lick Continue at the User Acc ount Control screen. 6 After a moment , you see thi s screen: Click Ne xt .
17 8 Click OK . A fter a moment, you see this sc reen: 9 Connect the U SB cable to an y ope n US B por t on your computer . T hen connect t he other end t o the USB port on the back of PictureMate P al. Th e installer inst alls your Pict ureMate Pa l software.
18 11 Wh en you see a message that your pri nter driver is installe d, click Next . Y our on-scree n Us er’s Guide is instal led. 12 After a mo ment, you see this screen: F ollow the on-sc reen instructi ons to instal l the optional software. 13 Wh en you’re finis hed, click Exit .

21 Printing From a Windows Com puter Y ou can print p hotos from an i m aging applicati on, the Win dows Photo Ga llery in Wi ndows V ista (below), or the P icture and F ax V iewer in W indows XP (pag e 23). 27 Printing From a Macinto sh Y ou can print you r photos from any Macint osh imaging application. 1 Start your print program and open the photo you want t o print. 2 F rom the File men u, select Page Setup . 3 Selec t Pictu reMate PM 2 0 0 from the Fo rmat for menu.
28 8 Selec t Print Settings from the pop-up menu. Tip: For more information ab out printer s ettings, click ? . 9 Choose fr om the followi ng settings: ● Select Enhance Fine Detail s to bring out the fine detail s of a particularly intricat e photo (printing m ay be slower).

31 6 Wh en you are finishe d, disconnect y our camera from Pict ureMate Pal before inserting a memory card in Pict ureMate Pal. Printing Wirelessly F rom a Bluetooth Device Y ou can print p hotos wirele ssly from your Bluetoot h-enabled PD A, cell phone, or comput er when you use the optional Ep son Bluetoot h Photo Print A dapter .
32 4 Select the photo you want to print from your Blue toot h devi ce an d se nd it to P ictur eMa te Pal as follows : ● Windows : Send p hotos directly t o PictureMat e Pal wit h your Bluetooth file sharing program. See t he documentatio n included with your c omputer’s Bl uetooth adapter for detai ls.
33 Whe n PictureMate P al needs a new Print Pack, y ou see a messa ge on the pho to viewer scre en. The Print Pac k contains a new p hoto cartridge and photo pap er.
34 Replacing the Print Pack Make sure you have a new Picture Mate 200 S eries Print P ack before you remove the old photo cartridge. Once you re move the car tri dge, you mus t install t he new one right away. Caution: Bef ore you replace the cartridge, read the “Ph oto Cartridge Saf ety Instructions” on pa ge 52.
35 4 Pull o ut th e car t ridge and disp ose of it p rope rly. (F or appropriate disp osal, check l ocal resource s for recycl ing guidelines.) Warning: Keep ph oto cartridges out of the re ach of children and do not drink the in k. If ink gets on you r hands, wash th em thoroughly w ith soap and water.
36 7 Slide th e leve r all th e way r ight, to the Lock posi tion . Caution: If the cart ridge is not inse rted correctly, PictureMate Pal will not be able to print . 8 Close th e cartridge door al l the way . PictureMate P al start s charging and displays a message.
37 Picture Mate Pa l’s handle makes it easy to carry short distances. If Pi c tureMate P al is going to travel a lo nger distance , pack it carefull y to protect it from damage. Caution: Keep Pi ctureMate Pal out of the sun and don’t leave it in your car or other locat ion where it can get too hot or too cold .
38 Y ou can change t he way Pictu reMate Pal works as follows: ● Adj ust the amount of expansion used in borderles s printing ● T urn print prev iew on or off ● Adjust th e pho to vi ewer s cre .
39 Turning Print Preview On or Off When Pri nt Pr evie w is On an d you press Print , you see a scree n that lets yo u confi rm your se lected photos, number of cop ies, layout, and o ther settings. Then you p ress Print again to start printing. When Pri nt Pr evie w is Off , Pi ctur eMa te Pal do es not display a preview screen before print ing.
40 If you h ave a problem w ith your Pictur eMate Pal, o r you want to improv e print quality , read these secti ons: ● Cleani ng the print h ead (to the right) ● Ali gning the print head (on page.
41 5 Pres s OK again to clean th e print head. Cleaning takes abo ut 60 seconds. PictureMate P al makes some n oise and you s ee a C leaning message. Wh en cleaning is com plete, Picture Mate Pal prin ts a noz zle ch eck pat tern . 6 Check the pattern t o see if there a re any gaps in the lin es.

43 Error Messa ges If your PictureMate P al has any probl ems, check the scre en for a mess age . Y ou need to in ser t the i nitial photo cartridge that comes with Pictur eMate Pal the f irst time you charge it.
44 Printing and Op eration Pro blems The On light and photo vi ewer screen don’t tu rn on. ● Press the On button again to turn on Pictur eMa te Pal. ● Make sure the power cable and AC adap ter are secure ly connect ed at both e nds. ● Make sure your power ou tlet works and is not controlle d by a wall switc h or tim e r .
45 PictureMate Pal sounds as t hough it is printing, b ut nothing pri nts. ● Pic tureMate Pal m ay be preparing to print. ● T he print he ad may need cleanin g. See page 40. ● Pic tureMate Pa l won’t wor k properly if it’s tilted or at an angle.
