Connecting to a wireless LAN an d projecting images from the computer's screen (EB-1776W/EB-1771W/EB-1761W only) By using EasyMP Network Projection and the supplied or optional Wireless LAN unit, you can wirelessly project the computer's screen.

Replacing the remote control batteries If delays in the responsiveness of the remote control occur or if it does not operate after it has been used for some time, it probably means that the batteries are becoming flat. When this happens, replace them with new batteries.

Preparing the Projector This chapter explains how to install the projector and connect projection sources..
Installation Methods The projector supports the following four different projection methods. Install the projector according to the co nditions of the installation location. • Project images from in front of the screen. (Front projection) • Project images from behind a translucent screen.
• Install the projector so that it is parallel to the screen. If the projector is installed at an angle to the screen, keystone distortion occurs in the projected image. • Place the projector on a level surface. If the projector is tilted the projected image is also tilted.

This section gives examples of how to conne ct the projector and the projection source. The port name , location, and connector orientation differ depending on the sour ce being connected. Connecting a Computer To project images from a computer, connect th e computer using one of the following methods.
Connecting Image Sources To project images from DVD players or VHS video and so on, connect to the projector using one of the following methods. A When using a comm ercially av ailable video cable Connect the video output port on the image source to the projec tor's Video port.
Connecting USB Devices You can connect devices such as USB memory, the optional Docume n t C a m e r a , a n d U S B c o m p a t i b l e h a r d d i s k s a n d d i g i t a l c a m e r a s . Using the USB cable supplied with the USB device, connect th e USB device to the USB (TypeA) port on the projector.
Installing the Wireless LAN Unit a Remove the wireless LAN unit cover. b Install the wireless LAN unit. c Attach th e wireless LA N unit cover, a nd then turn over the projector.

From Installation to Projection This section explains the procedure for connecting the projector to a computer with the computer cable and projecting images. a Connect the projector to an electrical outlet with the power cord. b Connect the projecto r to the computer with the comput er cable.
Automatically Detect Input Signals and Change the Projected Image (Source Search) Press the [Source Search] button to project images from the port currently receiving an image.
Switching to the Target Image by Remote Control You can change directly to the target image by pressing the following buttons on the remote control. Rem ote co ntro l A Changes to images from the Computer port. B Each time the button is pressed, it cycles through the images being input from the following sources.

Automatically Adjust to Fit into the Screen Frame - Screen Fit - (EB-1776W only) Screen Fit is a function that corrects the projected image so that it fits to the frame (border) of the screen, whiteboard, and so on.
b A d j u s t t h e z o o m r i n g s o t h a t t h e y e l l o w f r a m e i s b i g g e r t h a n t h e screen frame as shown below. Position the black message box in the center of the screen.
a • When Screen Fit detects more than two sides of a frame inside the projection area, it adjusts to fit the detected frame. For example, w hen projecting onto a wide screen in a small room, you can make corrections by fitting the top and bottom sides of the screen into the projected area.
When the projector is moved, it disp lays a screen for adjustment and then automatically corrects the projecte d image. You can use Auto H/V-Keystone to correct the projected image under the following conditions. • Correction angle: app rox. 2 0˚ right and left/approx.
a You can set manual H/V -Keystone from the Configuration menu. s Settings - Keystone - H/V-Keystone p.82 Correcting manually - Quick Corner - This allows you to manu ally correct each of the four corners of the projected image separately. a Press the [Menu] button while projecting.
e Using the [ ], [ ], [ ], and [ ] buttons on the remote control, or the [ ], [ ], [ ], and [ ] buttons on the control panel, correct the position of the corner. If the message "Cannot adjust any further." is displayed while adjusting, you cannot adjust the shape any further in the direction indicated by the gray triangle.
a • When Auto H/V-Keystone is set to On , the message "Do you want to perform Auto H/V-Keystone correction?" is displayed when the projector is moved.

• Adjust the volume from the Configuration menu. s Settings - Volume p.82 Caution Do not start at high volume. A sudden excessive volume may caus e loss of hearing. A lways lower the volume before powering off, so that you can power on and then gradually increase the volume.
a You can set Color Mode from the Configuration menu. s Image - Color Mode p.80 Setting Auto Iris By automatically setting the luminance according to the brightness of the displayed image, it lets you enjoy deep and rich images. a Press the [Menu] button.

Projecting Two Images Simultaneously (Split Screen) (EB-1776W/EB-1771W/EB-1761W Only) You c an simu ltaneously project images from two so urces on the right and left of the screen. Input sources for split screen projection The combinations of input sources that can be projected on a split screen are listed below.
b Press the [Menu] button. The Split Screen Setup screen is displayed. c Select the Source , a n d t h e n p r e s s t h e [ ] b u t t o n . The Source screen is displayed. d Select each input source for Left and Right . Only input sources that can be combined can be selected.

Restriction re lating to images • The default values for the Image menu are applied to the image on the right screen. However, the settings for the image projected on the left screen are applied to the image on the right screen for Color Mode , Abs.

a If not all of the files and folders are displayed on the current screen, press the [ ] ] button on the remote control, or position the cursor on Next Page at the bottom of the screen and press the [ ] button.

Each time you press the [A/V Mute] button or open/close the lens cover, A/V Mute turns on or off. It is not possible to resume projection from the point where A/V Mute was activated.

Enlarging Part of the Image (E-Zoom) This is useful when you want to expand images to see them in greater detail, such as graphs and tables. a Start E-Zoom. Press the [ z ] button to display the Cross ( ). Re m o t e c on tro l b Move the Cross ( ) to the area of the image tha t yo u wan t to enlarge.
a • The enlargement ratio appears on the screen. The selected area can be enlarged to between 1 to 4 times in 25 incremental steps. • During enlarged projection, press the [ ], [ ], [ ], or [ ] button to scroll the image. • If E-Zoom is selected, Progressive and Noise Reduction are cancelled.
Page Up/Down [ [ ] button: Moves to the previous page. [ ] ] button: Moves to the next page. a • When an y pair of adjacent [ ], [ ], [ ], or [ ] buttons are pressed at the same time, the pointer can be moved diagonally.
Oper a‐ tion Co m bin atio ns De sc r iptio ns ID selected with remote control: 1 Possible Projector ID: Off When the Projector ID is set to Off, you can operate the projector regardless of the ID selected with the remote control.
c Choose the ID you want to set and press the [ ] b u t t o n . d Press the [Menu] button to finish making settings. Perform steps 1 to 4 for all projectors and set a unique ID for each one. Selecting the ID for th e projector you want to operate using the remote control a Select the ID each time you turn on the projector.
Correcting color differences Operate using the remote control with the ID set according to the projector being used. a Press the [Menu] button. s "Using the Conf iguration Menu" p.76 b Select Multi-screen from Extended . c Select the level to be corrected in Ad justment Level .

Re m o t e c on tro l a You can save at 400x300 dots in size . e When you press the [ ] button and the message "Sel ect this image?" is displayed, select Yes . f Select the zoom factor from the zoom setting screen. g When the message "Sav e this image as the User's Logo?" is displayed, select Yes .
The projector has the following enhanced security functions. • Password Protect You can limit who can use the projector. • Control Panel Lock You can prevent people changing th e settings on the projector without permission. s "Restricting Operation (Control Panel Lock)" p.
a • If Password Protect is already activated, you must enter the password. If the password is entered correctly, the Password Protect setting menu is displayed. s "Entering the Password" p.72 • When the password is set, stick the supplied password protect sticker in a visible position on the projector as a further theft deterrent.
When you enter the correct passwor d, Password Protect is temporarily released. Attention • If an incorrect password is entered three times in succession, the message "The projector's operation will be lock ed." is displayed for approximately five minutes, and then the projector switches to standby mode.
d Select Yes when the confirmation message is displayed. The control panel buttons are locked according to the setting you chose. a You can release the control panel lock by one of the following two methods. • Select Off from Con trol Panel Lock . s Settings - Control Panel Lock p.

This section explains how to use th e Configuration menu. Although steps are explained using the remote control as an example, you can perform the same operations from the control panel. Check the guide under the menu for the available buttons and their operations.

Extended Menu Submenu Function Displ ay You can make settings related to the projector's display. Messages : W h e n s e t t o Of f , the following items will not be displayed. Item names when the Source, Color Mode, or Aspect Ratio is changed, messages when no signal is being input, and warnings such as High Temp Warning.
Submenu Function Stand by Mode You can use network monitoring and control functions while the projector is in standby mode when this is set to Communication On . (EB-1776W/EB-1771W/ EB-1761W only) You can monitor and control the status of the projector over the network by using SNMP g , o r b y u s i n g t h e EasyMP Monitor software.
Network Menu (EB-1776W/EB-1771W/EB-1761W Only) When Network Protect is set to On in Password Protect , a message is displayed and the network settings cannot be changed. Set Netwo rk Protect to Off and then configure the network. s "Setting Password Protect" p.
Yes : Saves the settings and exits the Network menu. No : Does not save the settings and exits the Network menu. Cance l : Continues displaying the Network menu. Soft keyboard operations The Network men u contains items tha t require input of alphanumerics during setup.

When editing, you can enter up to 16 single-byte alphanum eric characters . PJLink Password Set a password to use when you access the projector using compatible PJLink softw are.
Wireless LAN menu Submenu Function Wireless LAN Pow er Turn On when connecting the projector to the computer over wireless LAN. If you do not want to connect via wireless LAN, turn it Off to prevent unauthorized access by others. The default value is On .
Submenu Function IP S ettings (This item can only be set if Connection Mode is set to Advanced .) You can make network settings. DHCP : Set to On to make network settings using DHCP g . If this is set to On , you cannot set any more addresses. IP Address : You can input the IP address g assigned to the projector.
Submenu Function Encry pt ion K ey 1/ Encryption K ey 2/ Encryption K ey 3/ Encryption K ey 4 You can enter the key used for WEP encryption. Enter the key in single-byte characters following instructions from the network administrator for the network in which the projector participates.
s "Using the Mail Notification Function to Report Problems" p.125 Submenu Function Mail Notifi c ation Set to On to send an email to the preset addresses when a problem or warning occurs with a projector. SMTP S erver You can input the IP address g for the SMTP server for the projector.
Submenu Function Tr a p IP Addr es s 1/ T rap IP Ad‐ dres s 2 You can register up to two IP addresses for the SNMP trap notification destination. You can enter a number from 0 to 255 in each field of the address. However, the following IP addresses cannot be used.
Info Menu (Display Only) Lets you check the status of the image signals being projected and the status of the projector. Items that can be displayed vary depending on the source currently being projected. Dependin g on the model used, some input sources are not supported.
Submenu Function Res e t All You can reset all items in the Configuration menu to their default settings. The following items are not reset to their defaults: Input Signal , User's Logo , a l l i t e m s f o r Network menus * , Lamp Hours , Language , Password , User Bu tton , a n d Multi- screen .
Troubleshooting This chapter explains how to identify problems and what to do if a problem is found..
If a problem occurs with the projector, the Help screen is displayed to assist you by pressing the Help button. You can solve problems by answering the questions. a Press the [Help] button. If you are having a problem with the projector, first check the projector's indicators and refer to "Reading the Indicators" be low. See the following if the indicators do not show clearly what the problem might be. s "When th e Indicators Provide No He lp" p.
Refer to the following table to see what the indicators mean and how to remedy problems that they indicate. If all indicators are off, check that the power cord is conn ected correctly and that the power is being supplied normally.
Sta tus Cause R emedy or St atus If the lamp is not cracked : Reinstall the lamp and turn on the power. If the error continues : Replace the lamp with a new one and then turn on the power.
When the Indicators Provide No Help If any of the following problems occur and the indicators do no t offer a solution, refer to the pages given for each problem. Problems Relating to Images • No images appear Projection doe s not start, the projection area is completely black, or the projection area is completely blue.
Problems Relating to Images No images appear Che ck Re m e d y Did you press the [ t ] button? Press the [ t ] button to turn the power on. Are the indicators switched off? The power cord is no t connected correctly or power is not being supplied. Connect the projector's power cord correctly.
Moving images are not displayed Che ck Re m e d y Is the computer's image signal being output to the LCD and the monitor? (Only when projecting images from a laptop computer or a computer with a built-in LCD screen) Change the image signal from the computer to external outp ut only.
Che ck Re m e d y Is the correct port selected? Change the image by pressing the [S ource Search] button on the remote control or the contr ol panel . s "Automatically Detect Inpu t Signals and Change the Projected Image (Source Sear ch)" p.
Che ck Re m e d y Has condensation formed on the lens? If the projector is suddenly taken from a cold envi ronment to a warm envi ronment, or if sud den ambient temperature changes occur, condensation may form on the surface of the le ns, and this may cause the images to appear fuzzy.
The image is truncated (large) or small, the aspect is not suitable, or the image has been reversed Che ck Re m e d y Is a wide panel computer image being projected? (Only when projecting computer images) Change the setting according to the signal for the connected equipment.
Che ck Re m e d y Is the image brightness adjusted correctly? Adjust the Brightness setting from the Configuration menu. s Image - Brightness p.80 Are the cables connected correctly? Check that all the ca bles required for projection are securely connected.
Problems when Projection Starts The projector does not turn on Che ck Re m e d y Did you press the [ t ] button? Press the [ t ] button to turn the power on. Are the indicators switched off? The power cord is no t connected correctly or power is not being supplied.
Che ck Re m e d y Is A/V Mute active? Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control to cancel A/V Mute. s "Hiding the Image and Sound Temporarily (A/V Mute)" p.60 Is the audio cable's specification "No resistance"? When using a co mmercially available audio cable, make sure it is labeled "No resistance".
Email is not received even if a problem occu rs in the projector (EB-1776W/EB-1771W/EB-1761W only) Che ck Re m e d y Is Standby Mode set to Communication On ? To use the Mail Notification function when the projector is in standby, set Communicatio n On in Standby Mode from the Configuration menu.
Maintenance This chapter provides information on maintenance procedures to ensure th e best level of perfor mance from the projector for a lo ng time to come.
You should clean the projector if it becomes dirty or if the quality of projected images starts to deteriorate. Caution Turn off the projector's power before cleaning. Otherwise, it could cause an electric shock . Cleaning the Projector's Surface Clean the projector's surface by wipi ng it gently with a soft cloth.
a • If a message is frequently displayed, even after cleaning, it is time to replace the air filter. Replace it w ith a new air filter. s " R e p l a c i n g t h e A i r F i l t e r " p.117 • It is recommended that you clean these parts at least once every three months.

Insert th e new lamp along the guide rails in the correct direction so that it fits, and push it firmly into place.
