5 Using Your Stylus CX6600 Y ou can use your Epson S tylus ® CX6600 to make color or black-and-white copies without turning on your computer . All you have to do is place your original on the scanner glass and press a button.
6 Using Your Stylus CX6600 Using the Security Lock If you want to prevent unauthorized use of your CX6600, y ou can activate its security lock feature. The security lock requires you to enter a PIN (P ersonal Identification N umber) whenever you turn on the CX6600.
Using the Security Lo ck 7 6. On the control panel, press the Setup button, then use the l / r Se lect buttons to display Security Lock on the LCD screen. 7. P ress t he x Color button. 8. P ress the green button next to On (shown on the LCD scr een).

Open the scanne r lid. 2. Place your document face-down on the glass, in the upper-left corner .

Changing Copy Set t ings 15 Number of Copies U se the number ke ypad to select the number of copies you want to print (up to 99). If you ’ re using the 2-up or 4- up Copy mode set ting (see “Copy Layout ” on page 17), you can ’ t select mor e than one copy .
16 Copying Paper Size U se this button to select the size of paper you ’ ve loaded. Choose one of these sizes: A4 , LTR (letter), 4×6 , 5×7 , or 8×1 0 . Note: If you’re printing 4 × 6 photos, do not use pa per with micro perforated edges. Instead, select one of the papers listed on page 11.

18 Copying * If print quality declines at the bottom of the page, use the Standard layo ut setting. Copy Density T o make your copi es lighter or darker , use the C opy Density menu: 1. P ress t he Menu button. 2. P ress the green button next to the LCD screen until you see Copy Density displayed, then press OK .

20 Using Memory Cards Inserting a Memory Card 1. Make sur e the CX6600 is turned on. 2. If you will be printing from or scanni ng to the card , make sure y our CX6600 is not connected to your computer (or y our computer is turned off ). If you want to copy images between the card and your computer , leave the computer connected.
Using Your CX6600 as a Card Reade r 21 T o remove the card, pull it straight out of its slot. Caution: Do not remove the card or turn off the CX6600 while the memory card light is flashing, or you may lose data on the card.
22 Using Memory Cards Using Epson CardMonitor Y ou can use Epson Car dMonitor to automatically copy images to your computer whenever you insert a card. Y ou can also pick an application to automatically open and hel p you edi t your pi ctures . F ollow the instructions below for your operating system.
23 Printing from a Card The CX6600 lets you print photos directly from y our digital camera ’ s memory card—you don ’ t even have to connect the CX6600 to a computer .
24 Printing fr om a Card 4. Load several sheets of plain, letter-si ze paper . (If there are more than 36 images on the card, you will need multiple sheets to print the index.) 5. P ress t he x Color button to print the index. After the index form prints, Scan Index appears on the LCD screen.

26 Printing fr om a Card Printing with DPOF F ollow these steps if you ’ v e already selected the photos you want to print using your camera ’ s DPOF feature. 1. Insert a memory card containing DPOF image files (see “Inserting a M emor y Card ” on page 20).

Paper Type If you have loaded special paper , use this button to select one of the paper type settings listed below: Paper Size U se this button to select the size of paper you ’ ve loaded.

30 Scanning to a Card Scanning to a Card F ollow these steps to scan an image to a memor y car d and save it in JP EG format: 1. Make sur e your CX6600 is not connected to your compu t er (or your computer is turned off ), then insert a memor y car d (see page 20).
31 Maintaining Your CX6600 If you notice a decline in print quality , follow the instructions in this chapter to check and clean the print head. Y ou ’ll also find instructions on checking ink levels and replacing the ink cartridges.

Replacing Ink Cartridges 33 Replacing Ink Cartridges T o check ink levels, follow these steps: 1. P ress t he Setup button to enter Setup Mode. 2. P ress the green button next to the LCD screen until Ink Levels is displayed, then press the x Color button.
34 Maintaining Your CX6600 F ollow the steps below to re place an ink cartridge: Caution: Leave the empty cartridge installed until you have obtained a replacement, or the ink remaining in the print head nozzles may dry out. T o ensure goo d results, use genuine Epson ink cartridges and do not refill them.
Replacing Ink Cartridges 35 4. I dentify the cartridge you need to replace. P ress in the tab at the back of the cartridge, then li ft it straight out. Dispose of it carefully . Warning: If ink gets on your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water .
36 Maintaining Your CX6600 8. Lower the scanner . The CX6600 begins charging the ink delivery system and “Charging . . .” appears on the LCD scr een. W ait for charging to finish before using your CX6600. Caution: Never turn off the printer while “Charging .
