Introductio n 5 Introduction Yo u r E p s o n S t y l u s ® Photo R3000 Se ries printer give s you exhibition quality prints on a wide variety of glossy and matte papers in many sizes.
6 Loading Paper Loading Paper Y ou can print on a variety of paper types in the sheet feede r , or use the man ual feed tray for fine art papers (see page 8) an d thick media such as poster board (see page 14). T o print multiple photos, panoramics, and banners, load r oll paper using the roll paper holders (see page 11).
Loading P aper 7 1. Open the paper support and pull up the extensions. 2. Open the front cover , then extend the output tray . 3. Insert paper , glossy or printabl e side up, short edge first, against the right side and beneath the tab. Then pr ess the button on the edge guide and slide it against the paper (but not too tightly).
8 Loading Paper Always load paper short edge first, even for landscape printing. Load letterhead or pre-prin ted paper top edge first. Note: The edge guide moves slightly du ring paper feeding and printing. Do not adjust it while printing is in progress.
Loading P aper 9 4. Open the front cover , then push the center of th e manual feed tray to extend it. 5. Insert a single sheet of fine art paper . Insert it short edge first with the printable side face-up. Note: Load paper short edge first, no matter which way your photo faces.
10 Loading Paper 7. P ress the OK button. The paper loads inside the printer . 8. When you see a message on the screen, close th e manual feed tray . Push it in until it latches. 9. Extend the output tray . Note: T o ej ect paper , make sure the control panel shows Ready and press the + button.
Loading P aper 11 Loading Roll Paper Y ou can load roll paper for printing large images, panoramic images, or multiple photos, with or without borders.
12 Loading Paper 5. Place the r oll paper holders on each end of the paper r oll as shown. The holders are labeled L and R (for left and right), as viewed from the front of the printer . 6. Open the rear su pport but don ’ t extend it. 7. Attach the roll paper holders as shown.
Loading P aper 13 Removing Roll Paper Prints and Roll Paper 1. When printing is finished, you see this screen: Sel ec t Yes to print a cut line and feed the paper . (If you select No , you return to the Re ady screen. Select this option to continue printing on the same roll.
14 Loading Paper Loading Thick Media U se the manual feed tray to load 13 × 19-inch media that is 0.7 to 1.3 mm thick. Note: Be sure to leave at least 13 inches (32 cm) of space behind the printer for the media to feed through. 1. T urn on the printer .
Loading P aper 15 4. Insert a single sheet of thick media. Inse rt it short edge first with t he printable side face-up. Note: Never try to load media from the rear , or you could damage the printer . 5. F eed the paper up to the line on the tray . Make sure the paper is flush against the right.

20 Printing From Start to Finish Printing From Start to Finish This section describes basic printing from your Windo ws ® or Macintosh ® computer . F or detailed instructions, see the online User’s Guide . Y ou can also print label designs directly onto ink jet-printable CDs or DVDs.
Printing From Start to Finish 21 3. On the Main tab , select the Media Type setting that matches the paper y ou loaded (see page 28). Note: The available media types vary depending on the type of black ink currently selected as the Ink setting.

30 Printing on CDs and DVDs Printing on CDs and DVDs Y ou can use your R3000 Series and the E pson P rint CD software that came with it to print label designs directly onto ink jet-printable CDs or DVDs. T o prevent errors, you should burn files, music, or video onto your CD or DVD before printing.
Printing on CDs and DVDs 31 3. Open the front cover , then push the center of th e manual feed tray to extend it. 4. Place your disc on the included CD/D VD tray with the label side up . Note: For small 8-cm discs, place the adapter on the tray and then place the dis c in the adapter .

34 Printing on CDs and DVDs Removing Your Printed CD/DVD After your CD or DVD is printed, the tray ejects par tially from the R3000 Series. P ull out the tray and remove the disc. After printing, handle the printed CD or DVD car efully . Y ou may need to wait up to 24 hours for the ink to dry full y before inserting it in a drive.

36 Maintaining Your Printer Cleaning the Print Head If print quality has declined and the nozzle check indicates clogged nozzles, you can clean the print head.
Maintain ing Your Prin ter 37 Checking and Aligning the Print Head If your printouts become grainy or blurry , or you see dark or light bands acr oss them, you may need to align the print head. Note: Banding may also occur if your print head nozzles need clean ing (see page 35).
38 Maintaining Your Printer Note: On a Windows computer that is connected to the Internet, you may see a screen asking if you want to receive Epson offers the first time you try to print when ink is low . Click Accept or Decline . T o disable checkin g for ink offers or updates from Epson, see the instructions in your online User’s Guide .
Maintain ing Your Prin ter 39 Replacing Ink Cartridges Y ou can purchase genuine E pson ink and paper at Epson S u pplies Central at www .epson.com/ink3 (U.S. sales) or www .epson.ca (Canadian sales). Y ou can also purchase supplies from an E pson author ized reseller .
40 Maintaining Your Printer Make sure y ou have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Y ou must install new cartridges immediat ely after r emoving the old ones . 1. Open the printer cove r , then open the ink cartridge co ver . 2. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge an d lift the cartridge straight up to remove it.
Maintain ing Your Prin ter 41 3. Before opening the cartridge package, shake the package four or five times. Note: Cartridges make a clicking sound when you shake them. Caution: Do not shake the cartridges after opening the packages or ink will leak. 4.
42 Maintaining Your Printer 6. Insert the new cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place. 7. Close the cartridge co ver , then close the printer cove r . W ait for the printer to ch eck the ink car tridges and charge the ink del ivery system, if necessary .
Maintain ing Your Prin ter 43 Switching Black Ink Types Y our printer comes with Matte B lack and Photo Black ink cartridges. Although both must be installed for the printer to work, the printer can use only one type of ink at a time. The printer will switch ink automatically , dependin g on the type of media you load.

Maintain ing Your Prin ter 45 Cleaning the Rollers If you notice lines or streaks on your printouts, you may need t o clean the rollers inside the printer by feeding severa l sheets of plain paper through it. Note: If paper dust builds up on the rollers, th ey may lose traction and become unable to feed paper properly .
46 Network Setup Network Setup Make sure you follow the instructions on the Start Here sheet to set up your product, choose your connection, and install the software. The online instructions during the installation process help you set up your network connection.

50 Network Setup Setting Up With the Printer Buttons If you are using M ac OS X 10.6, or you don ’ t have a USB cable to set up the product on your wireless networ k, follow these steps to set it up using the printer buttons: 1. 52 Network Setup Entering Your SSID Manually If your network doesn ’ t broadcast its name (SSID), follow these steps to enter it: 1. F rom the S elect SSID screen on the product control panel, press u or d to select Other SSIDs , then press OK . 2. U se the arrow buttons on the control panel to enter your network name.

Solving Problems 59 CD/DVD Printing Problems ■ If the CD/DVD tray won ’ t load or jams in the printer , gently pull out the CD/DVD tray and press OK . Reload the CD/D VD tray , making sure to insert the tray correctly in the tray guide and align the arrows (see page 32).
