15 FIL TER REFE RE NCE The VC F Filters A voltage controlled filte r is an aud io filter where the cut-o ff frequency is altered by a DC control voltage rather than a va riable resistor. This produces a much wider operating range a nd more control over the filter respons e to create unli mited combinations of tona l ef fect.
16 It is mo s t important that the system level set tings are correctly set. It is well known that many DJs push the level t o maximum with m eter s peaking hard in the belief t hat they are ge tting the bes t fr om the sys tem.
17 The connectio n to earth (ground) in a n audio system is important for two rea sons : SAFETY - To prot ect the opera tor from high voltage electric shock, and AUDIO PERF ORMANC E - To minimise the effect of earth (ground) loops which result in audible hu m and buzz, a nd to shield t he aud io signals f r om int erfe ren ce.
18 SER VICING How to replace the crossfader If the crossfader is subject to a lot of use it will, in time wear out and need replacing. Int ermittent o r noisy operation is an indication t hat it is becoming worn.
