Front Panel Power Button T o activ ate the device, press this Power button for 2 seconds after connecting the device to an appropriate power outlet with the provided power cord. T o power off , press the button for two se conds unti l Power LE D starts to blink.
Backup Button Press this button to copy those files from USB I port to the internal HD . A ne w folder will be created automatical ly in the “sh are” folder . This new folder is named according to the ti me you press this b utton. Note: 1. Only USB I port support this quick backu p fun ction.
Rear Panel Reset to Default Button Press and hold the R es et Defa ult Button fo r 4 seconds to reset all configur ations to factory default setti ngs. Note: 1. All configurations that are done by u sers will be removed from the device. 2. The device also supports restoring factor y default settings by software.
Installa tion Guide Hardware Inst allation Install a Hard Disk Drive for the Device 1. Lie the device down as the fo llowi ng picture. Please make sure that the device is oriented correctly . 2. Unscrew the screws on both the to p and bottom side of the device.
4. Place the Hard Disk drive evenly o n the hard disk drive base. Slides the Hard Drive to con nect to the connector on the devic e. 5. Secure your hard disk with the included screws in the package. 6. Place the HD cover back on to th e device and screw the cover on.
Connect this device to your USB devices The device equips two USB ports that allo w us ers to connect the device to a USB storage device . 1. Find the USB cable that came with your USB storage device. Insert the USB Type A end of the cable to the device, th e other end to your USB storage.
Power on the device 1. Connect the included po wer cord with the powe r adapter 2. Connect the connector end to the device and the plug to an outlet. 3.
Sof tware Inst allation Installing the PNMD This PNMD progr am helps users to get acce ssed to those NAS in your LAN. Please follow the in st ructions to install the sof tware. 1. Insert the CD -Rom that came with this produ ct to your CD-Rom drive. The main menu pops up automati cally .
3. Fill your User Name and Company name in their respect ive blan ks. Select if you want this software to be us ed by anyone who uses this computer or yourself only . Click Next to proceed. 4. Choose the destinat ion folder for this sof tware and click “Next” to start installation.
6. After successful installation, the shortcut shows o n your windows desktop. Note: F or instructions us in g the soft ware, please refer to chapter “Making Connection with the Device” . Installing the EZIP Backup This EZIP Backup helps users to backup file s on your computer to N A S .

3. Connect the LAN port to your switch or IP s haring router . The PNMD scanning the device again. 4. After scanning, the me nu shows the NA S in your LAN.
5. The window shows the connection status of th e NAS in y our LAN. Y ou may click on each NAS to get det ailed information of each NAS . Select the NAS that you are going to connect to and click the button. Note: The device cannot detect your hard drive if your hard drive is not formatted a s E X T 3 f o r m a t .
6. Y ou may select “Auto assign IP Address” , which allows the PNMD to assign IP addresses for the device, or select “Use the I P Address as below” , fill in IP address for this device. Enter the us ername and password and click OK. Note: The default username/ password is admin/ admin.
To access to folders in the device Double click t he shortcut on your desktop to start the PNMD . The PNMD window pops u p. Select your NAS and click the button. Double click on the folder that you are going to access. An authenti cation window pops up.

S t arting the Graphic User Interface (GUI) The Graphic User Interface (GUI) is the ma nag ement inter face of this device. Mos t parameters and setting s are configured over the GUI.
Using the Graphic User Interface (GUI) This section provides an in troduction to the GUI. Understanding the GUI The GUI is consisted of the following components, 1. Configuration categories: Located on the left side of each page. Lists the configuration categories on this devi ce.
enable/disable anonymous access. Security IP T o configure the allowed or denied IP addresses for getting access to the device. Security MAC T o configure the allowed or denied M AC addresses for getting access to the device. File Download T o add, delete download tasks or change download task properties.
Stat u s The Statu s page shows the follow ing inf ormation of the dev ice. T o open the St atus page, click the Status o n the configuration categories list.
Disk The Disk page allows users to: 1. Change the properties of folders. 2. Format the hard disk connected to the device with IDE connector . T o open the Disk page, click the “Disk” on the config.
The folder configur ation page show s up. This pa ge allows users to: y Change Folder Name/ F older Description. y Add or remove authorized users or groups for this folder . y Change folder-accessing auth ority level for users and groups. To change the folder name/ folder description 1.
2. Fill in the new name or new description for the folder and cl ick “ Appl y ”. Note: y Folder Name (0~15 characters): The name for the folder . y Description (0~48 char acters): A note for the folder . y Both folder name and description are alphanumeric.

Network The Network page allows users to: 1. Configur e general device in f ormation 2. Configure the network setting for the device. T o open the Netw ork page, click the Network on the configur ation categories list. Host- Host Name Setting Host Name (1~15 char acters): Define the user -def ined device name.
The IP Address Setting contai ns parameters of the device network setting. T o modify , fill in each bl anks and click “ A pply ” to execute. IP Address: Specifies the device IP Subnet Mask: Defin.
System The System page allows users to: 1. Configuring Admini strator name and pass word. 2. Synchronize system time 3. Add, delete and configure a user 4. Add, delete and configure a group T o open the System page, click the System on the configuration categories list.
Time- System Time Setting The Time page provides time sync hronizing function. Y ou can synchronize the time by applying the ti me on your computer to the device or by connecti ng to a time server .
User- User Configuration The User page allows users to: y Add users y Delete users y Modify user properties To Configure a User 1. Move the cursor onto the icon of the user that you are going to configu re. 2. Y ou can change the user ’s properties by modifying the settings on each item.
3. T o change the user name, click the “ Chan ge Nam e button ”. T h e c h a n g e username page shows up. Fill in t he n ew user name in the “ New User Na me ” box. Cli ck “ Apply ” to ex ecute. To Add a New User 1. Click the “ Ad d ” button on the user list 2.
3. Click “ apply ” to add the new user . To delete a user 1. Select the user that you are going to remove from the devi ce. Mark the check box of the user .
Group- Group Configuration The Group page allows users to: y Add group s y Delete groups y Modify group prop ert i es To add a new group 1. Click “ Add ” bu tton. 2. Configure the properties for this group. G r o u p N a m e (0~15 characters) Enter a group name as the group ID .
3. Click “ Apply ” to add the new group, click ” Undo ” to reload previous configuration and click “ Back ” to return to group list. To delete a group 1. Mark the check box of the group that you are going to delete. 2. Click “ Delete ” to remov e the group or click “ Back ” to return to group l ist.
Option The Option page allows users to: 1. Configure FTP settings. 2. Ensure the device security by IP and MAC filter . 3. Download files with this device. T o open the Option page, click Option on the configuration categories list FTP- FTP Configuration The device embeds a FTP server that allows users to acces s this device by FTP client.
Security IP- IP Filter Setting The Security IP function provides a ccess ma nagement by IP address filtering. T here are three modes for the IP filter . 1. Disable: Disable the IP Fi ler function. All IP addresses are allowed to ac cess the device. 2.
Security MAC- MAC Filter Setting The Security MAC function provides acce ss management by MA C address filtering. There are three modes for the MAC filter . 1. Disable: Disable the MAC Filer function. All MAC addresses are allowed to access the device.
File Download- File Download Configuration The File Down load page allows users to download files with thi s device. Note: Before using this fun ction, you should load the “ ntx_libra.tgz ” first. T o get information f or installing the “ ntx_libra.
Maintenance The Maintenance page all ows users to: 1. Backup/ download the configurati on status of the device. 2. Select Code Page for the device. 3. Upgrade the device firm ware. 4. Restart the system 5. Re set factory default. 6. Apply Character Set an d UP&P function to the devi ce.
Reload the Device Configuration Status: 1. Click “ Browse ” an d locate the file t hat you backup before. Note: T o know how to backup the configur atio n status, see” Backup the Configuration Status ” 2. Click “ Upload ” to execute. 3. The system restart s aut omatically to reload your previou s configuration.
Restart the System This column allows users to restart the sy stem. T o perform system restarting, click the “ Restart ” b utton. Reset to Factory Default T o restore the factory default configur ation for the device, click the “ Set to Default ” button to ex ecute.
Load Firmware extensions T o enable the Unicode and UPNP fu nction for the device, you have to install the “ ntx_libra.tgz ” file to the device before any configuration. T o install the f ile, 1. Insert the included CD and click the “ Browse ” button.
W eb Server Web Server Administration WEB The Administr ation port is the port for accessing the W eb-based management interface. T o modify the Admini stration P ort, enter a port number from 1 to 655 35 then click Apply to save your configuration. Note: The P ort 80 is co nfigured as the defaul t Administra tor WEB Server P ort.
USB Detail The Detail page shows the in formatio n of the connected USB devices: USB Class: The USB device type. Manufacturer: The manufacturer of th e connected USB device Device Name: Name of the conne cted USB device. USB 2.0/ 1.1: The USB standard supported by the connected USB device.
Type: The file format of the connected stor age device. Size: The size of the conne cted stor age device. Remove button Click this but t on to safely remove the connect ed device. Format button Click this bu tton to format the con nected device in EXT3 file format.
4. Click Printer Set up, Click “Y es” in the “Printer enable” column and click “ Apply” Note: After finishing th e four steps above, the printer server function is acti vated. T o setup the computers that are g oing to use the printer , please follow the instructions from step 5.

Clean Printer Job Queue The Clean Printer Job Queue allows users to clean the pending print jobs that w ait for printing. T o perform cleaning printer job queue, click the “ Execute ” button and click “ Yes ” to confirm.
A ppendix Using EZIP Backup to back up your files This program helps u sers to backup the files on you computer to your NAS. Those back-upped files are going to be co mpressed as *.zip format in your NAS. 1. Double click t he shortcut on your desktop.
3. Click “ PC Folder Select ” button. Browse a folder that you are going to backup and click OK. The folder th at you selected shows on the list. 4. Click the “ Cha nge NAS ” button to select a NAS . Select a NAS in the NAS device drop list. Select a destination folder for locating the back-upped files.
T rouble Shooting 1. How to shut down the device properly? Ans. T o shut down the System properly , pre ss the Po wer but ton on the front panel for two seconds until P ower LED blinks the n go off . 2. The PNMD can’t configure My N etwork setting. Ans.
5. I can’t access this device. Ans. Check the LINK / ACT LED of Device illu m inates. R eboot the system with W eb-based UI or press the Default Butto n to restore the F actory default setting and reboot. Maybe there are too many concurrent ly co nnected users.
10. I can’t configure the default user “admin” in Us er Configuration. Ans, The username and password of the user “admin” can only be configured in th e System Æ Administrator page . Please note tha t you wi ll have to login the GUI with this new superuser ID and password after changing it.
