Sensor In stallation: F-Series 11 Determining a Locati on Maximum wiring distances If the transmitter is mounted remote ly from the sensor , the maximum di stance between the sensor and transmitter depends on cable type.
12 Sensor In stallation : F-Series Orientin g the Se nsor Step 2 Orienting the Sensor The sensor will function prop erly in an y orientation if the sensor tubes remain f illed with process fluid. Micro Motion reco mmends or ienting F-Series sensors as sho wn in Figure 8.
Sensor In stallation: F-Series 13 Mounting the Se nsor Step 3 Mounting the Sensor Use your common practices to minimize torque and bendi ng load on process conn ections. Figure 9 illustrates ho w to mount the sensor . T o reduce the risk of co ndensation or excessi ve mois ture, the conduit opening should not point upward (if possib le).
14 Sensor In stallation : F-Series Mounting the Sensor Mounting the electronics of high-temperature and e xtreme high-temperature se nsors High-temperature and extreme high-tempera ture F-Series sensors come with a 32 ″ (812 mm) pre-installed flexible conduit.
Sensor In stallation: F-Series 15 Wiring Step 4 Wiring Improperly sealed housings can expose electron ics to moisture, which can cause measurement err or or flowmeter failure. Inspect and grease all ga skets and O-rings. Fully close and tighten all housing cover s and conduit openings.
16 Sensor In stallation : F-Series Wiring Figure 11 Micro Motion cable gland an d heat shrink 4. For conn ection at the core processor housing, pr epare shielded cable as follo ws (for armored cable, omit steps d, e, f, and g): a. Strip 4 1/2 inches ( 114 mm) of cab le jack et.

18 Sensor In stallation : F-Series Wiring Figure 16 Connecting the wires at the core processor 7. Reinstall and tighten the co re processor housing co ver . 8. Additional wiring instructions for the tran smitter can be found in the transmitter manual.
Sensor In stallation: F-Series 19 Grounding Step 5 Grounding The sensor can be groun ded via the piping if the joints in the pipeline are ground- bonded. If the sen sor is not grounded via the piping, con nect a ground wire to the in ternal or exter nal grounding scre w , which is located on the core processo r housing or junction box.
20 Sensor In stallation : F-Series Purge Fitt ings Purge Fittings If the sensor has pur ge fittings, the y should remain seal ed at all times. After a purge plug has been remo v ed, the sensor case should b e purged w ith ar gon or nitrogen and resealed.
Sensor In stallation: F-Series 21 Purge Fittings 8. Make sure the pur ge f itting seals are tight so air cannot be dra wn b y suction into the sensor case.
22 Sensor In stallation : F-Series Return Policy Return Policy Micro Motion procedu res must be followed when retu rning equipment. These procedures ensure le gal compliance with go vernment transpor tation agencies and help pro vide a safe working en vironment for Micro Motion employees.
