1 Getting Started 8 Using Proper Cables When conn ecting instr uments and other equipm ent to the iMultiMi x, it’ s important that y ou use the appropriate type s of cables . Here are some simple but impor tant guidelines: F or the mic inputs, use XLR cables .

2 A Tour of the iMultiMix USB 10 Line Input s (Channels 5 – 8) Unlike channels 1 – 4, the line inpu ts on channels 5 – 8 are stereo inputs that ha v e left and right inputs . If you’ re u sing one of these channel s as a mono i nput, plug y our instrument into t he left inpu t.
A Tour of the iMultiMix USB 2 11 Channel Strips The eight channel strip s are virtually identica l to each other , with the only diffe rence being that c hannels 1 – 4 are mono and channel s 5 – 8 are stereo . Each c hannel strip co ntains the foll owing c omponents .

Using these knobs , y ou can tail or the cha nnel’ s signal b y boosting s ome frequencies and cutting o thers . The LO and HI controls are shelving controls with fixed frequencies of 75 Hz and 12 kHz respectively .
A Tour of the iMultiMix USB 2 13 HDPH / CTRL RM The HDPH / CTRL RM knob controls the l eve l of the signal being sent to the CTRL RM OUT and the P HONES output.
2 A Tour of the iMultiMix USB 14 iPod Section The iP od section contains the co ntrols for y our iP od. With the iMultiMi x you ca n not only pl ay conte nt from y our iP od, but you can also record your mix directly to it.

Y ou sho uld alwa ys connect your power supply to the mixer before you pl ug the pow er suppl y into an electrical outlet.

3 Digital Effects Processor 17 Onboard you r iMultiMix 8 USB™ i s a pow erful effe cts unit that has 100 preset prog rams . W e offer a few tips on where to use these, but don ’ t limit yourself to our sug g estions . W e recommend that you experiment with these effects to g et a good feel fo r how they can improve y our mixes .
3 Digital Effects Processor 18 CHORUS These create the effect of multip le voices (or instruments) sounding at onc e from a single input. FLANGE These create a sweeping, swoosh ing sound effe ct that you will probably recogni ze. DELA Y These effects are bas ed on a discreet repetition or echo of the input.
4 Applications 19 Y our iMultiMix 8 USB can be used in a wide variety of ways in both li ve and re cording applications . Y ou have seve ral options for bringing sound into and out of the board.
4 Applications 20 It is also important to understand that n ot all iP ods are created equal and different models have different capabilities. Please refer to the following compatibility table to check whether y our iP od is recording-compatible. Simple Live Setup This is similar to the recordin g setup .

5 Troubleshooting 23 If you’ re ha ving problems oper ating the iMultiMi x 8 USB , this troubleshooting index will help you cor rect them. Symptoms Cause Solution No sound from t he mixer. Mixe r is not plugged in or turned on. Plug in mixer and tu rn it on.
