2 CONDITIONS OF USE —The input supply outlet must be with in 6 ft. (1.8m) of the UPS and be eas- ily accessed. This UPS provides conditioned powe r to connected equipment. It is no t intended for use w ith life-sup- port and other designated “critica l” devices.

Introd uction 4 1.0 I NTRODUCTION The Liebert PSI ™ XR is a 2U, line-interactive UPS that may be installed in a rack or used as a tower UPS. Status indicators on the front of the Liebert PSI XR display load level, battery level, buck/boost, site- wiring fault, overload, battery status and UPS op eration.

Installation 7 3.0 I NST ALLATION 3.1 Prep aration The Liebert PSI XR may be installe d in either a tower or rack conf iguration. Determine the method that suits the applica tion and proceed. Decide where to install the Liebert PSI X R. The UPS must be installed indoor s in a controlled envi- ronment.

Installation 10 3.4 Orient Display for Inst allation The Liebert PSI XR features a rotating display th at may be oriented for either tower or rack installations. To set the display for your instal lation, pu ll out on the display and rotate it un til it is orient ed correctly, then press it i nto the UPS until it is seated.
Installation 11 3.7 Connect Network Surge protection Connect a 10 base-T/100 network cable to the networ k surge protection IN jack on the rear of the UPS. Connect from the OUT jack with ne twork cabling to network equipment (see Figure 11 ). Figure 1 1 Connect network surge prot ection 3.

Operational Modes 18 5.0 O PERATIONAL M ODES 5.1 Normal Mode When the UPS is in Normal Mode, the No rmal Mode Indicato r illumina tes green. 5.2 Buck/Boost Mode The Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR ) circuitry compensates for fluctu ations in utility power, su ch as voltage surges and sags.
Communication 19 6.0 C OMMUNICATION 6.1 DB-9 Connector The UPS has a DB-9 (9 pin female) connector on the rear to allow UPS statu s communications with a computer running Liebert MultiLink software in co ntact closure mode. The conne ction provides On Battery and Low Battery notification.
