6 BEFORE USE READ THIS BEFORE OPERA TION Read this before operation 1. Choose the in stallation loca tion of your u nit carefully . A void placing it i n direct sunligh t or close to a source of heat. Also avoid locations subject t o vibration and excessive dust, cold or m oisture.
7 C ONNECTION FM INDOOR ANTENNA If you live reasona bly close to a transmitter and want to use the provided lea d-type FM antenna, you will have to connect it direct t o the “FM 75 Ω ” socket.

9 C ONNECTION SPEAKER CONNECTION Power cord (AC) Be sure to connect the powe r cord to an AC outl et, which supplies the correct voltage. Hold the power pl ug when plu gging or unplug ging the pow er cord. Subwoofer Out Use this jack t o connect an active s ubwoofer .
10 C ONNECTION DVD PLA YER, TELEVISION (MONITOR), ETC When connecting video components such as DVD players, cable boxes, sa tellite receivers and television, you can us e dif ferent types of cables dep ending on ho w the video c omponent is eq uipped.
11 C ONNECTION CD, T APE JACKS CD, T APE jacks Connect the c omponent wit h RCA to RCA cords. Make sure to connec t: White plug to white jack (L: left) Red plug to red jack (R: right) DIGIT AL IN/OUT terminals If the CD player or MD player has digit al outputs, connect the co mponent with coaxial cables or optical cables.
12 REMO TE CONTROL UNIT By using the p rovided rem ote control unit, the receiver can be control led from your listeni ng position. T o use the re mote control unit, p oint it at the REMOTE SENSOR window of th e receiver .

15 REAR P ANEL INFORMA TION 1. Optical Out Optical audio output to the optical in put of a DVD player or a VCD player . 2. Optical In - A V1/A V2: Digi tal audio in put to the di gital output of a VCD - DVD: Optical audio input to the optical output of a DVD.
16 BASIC OPERA TION BASIC OPERA TION 1 1. Press the POWER button to ON. 2. Press ST ANDBY button to switch on the unit. 3.Select the desire d source by rotati ng the INPUT SELECTOR knob. DVD (ANA, OPT , COAX) TUNER (FREQUENCY) TA P E AUX VIDEO 1 (ANA, OPT ,) VIDEO 2 (ANA, OPT ,) VIDEO 3 (ANA) Note: DIGIT AL IN is used to select one of the 3 Modes.
17 BASIC OPERA TION I . PHONES jack For private listening, ins ert optional (not includ ed) headphones (1/4-in ch plug) into the PHONES jack, and then the center and s urround speaker will be cut automatically . Note: When the hea dphone is used, the o utput will down mix to STEREO autom atically .
18 RADIO DA T A S YS TEM RADIO DA T A SYSTEM (RDS) RDS is a method for the transm ission of additiona l information fr om local Radi o Stat ions. It ca n only operated in FM mode. For example, name of t he station broadcasting, name of the progr am or the type of progra m will be shown on th e multi-functi on display .
19 VIDEO OPERA TIONS Playing V ideo sources 1. Select the DVD, VIDEO 1 , VIDEO 2 or VIDEO 3 modes by rotatin g the I NPUT SELECTO R . 2. Play the compone nt corresponding to the INPUT selected. 3. The picture from the video source can be seen on the TV and the sound from the video sourc e will be heard from the speakers.
20 DELA Y TIME AND D Y NAMIC RANGE C ONTROL DELA Y TIME The delay tim e can be indivi dually set for the D olby Digital/Dolby Pro Logic II modes using the DELA Y (CENTER/REAR) buttons. When you adjust the delay tim e in the Dolby Digita l mode, an ad ditional 1 5 ms is aut omatically ad ded to th e surround channels in the Dolby Pro Logic m ode.
21 TES T T ONE , LFE TRIMMER AND CHANNEL SELECT . TE ST TO NE Speaker Level balance Adjustment The test tone functio n is useful to adjust the rela tive volume between s peakers in DO LBY DIGIT AL or DOLBY PRO LOGIC II mode. Once the bal ance is set, you don’ t have to change the balance as long as the speakers aren’t moved.
