M agnetic Stripe Re ader The MSR is a USB 1.1 device which rea ds all three data stri pes on sta ndard credit cards or driver’s licenses conf orming to ISO/ANSI sta ndards. The MSR will have f oreign la nguage capa bility . The credit card is rea d by sliding the credit card through the MSR, stri pe side toward the display , forward or ba ckward.

USB Interface Connection Y our touchmonitor comes with only one touchscreen connector ca bles: USB ca ble. (For W indows 2000, Me a nd XP syste ms only . ) T o set up the display , please ref er to the f ollowing figures a nd procedures: Remove the Ca ble Cover The ca bles are connected at the ba ck of the monitor .
C AUTION Before connecting the ca bles to your touchmonitor and PC, be sure that the computer a nd touchmonitor are turned of f. N OTE Before conne cting the cable s to the touchmonitor , route all the cables through the hole in the second a s shown in the picture above.
Connect one end of the power cord to the monitor a nd the other end to wall. Connect the power ca ble to the power port in the monitor . 2-15 CONNECTIONS ON UNDERSIDE POWER CABLE POWER POWER.
Connect one end of the video ca ble to the rear side of computer a nd the other to the LCD. T ighten by turning the two thumb screws clockwise to ensure proper grounding.
Connect one end of the speaker ca ble to the speaker port in the computer a nd the other end to the port in the monitor. 2-17 SPEAKER CABLE CONNECTIONS ON UNDERSIDE SPEAKER PORT.
Connect one end of the USB ca ble to the rear side of the computer a nd the other to the LCD monitor. The USB ca ble is for optional touch, MSR, CD a nd Finger Print Rea der . Only one USB ca ble is needed because the device contains a self powered USB 1.
Replace the Cable Cover Then you have attached all the ca ble s to the monitor , gently bring all the ca bles toward the sta ndard so they fit under the cover li p.
Optimizing the LCD Display T o ensure the LCD display works well with your computer , configure the display mode of your graphic card to make it le ss tha n or equal to 1280 x 1024 resolution, a nd make sure the ti ming of the display mode is compatible with the LCD display .

Barcode Sca nner Driver Installation: 1. Insert your Elo T ouchT ools CD. 2. On the CD, browse to T ouch Monitor PeripheralsBarcode Sca nner StartupDrivers. 3. Double-click on USB7210.msi a nd follow the prompts given by the setup file. 4. Once you have finished installing the a bove: Right click on My Computer a nd click on Properties.
The Sca n Engine turns on the laser a nd is a ble to sca n a nd decode barcodes con- tinuouslywithout the user having to press the trigger (momentary switch). When the Host Appli-cation software detects the DSR input HIGH (HE Switch is OFF), it sends a ‘LevelT rigger’ SSI comma nd to the Symbol Sca n Engine.
Customer Display Driver In stallation: 1. Insert your Elo T ouchT ools CD. 2. On the CD, browse to T ouch Monitor PeripheralsRear Fa cing Customer DisplayDriversUSB Drivers. Click on the folder that ha s the name of your operating syste m f or the nece ssary drivers.
Installing the T ouch Driver Software Elo T ouchSystems provides driver software that allows your touchmonitor to work with your computer . Drivers are located on the enclosed CD-ROM for the f ollowing operat- ing systems: • W indows XP • W indows 2000 • W indows Me • W indows 98 • W indows 95 • W indows NT 4.
Installing the USB T ouch Driver In stalling the USB T ouch Driver f or W indows XP , Windows 2000, Me a nd 98 1 Insert the Elo CD-ROM in your computer’s CD-ROM drive. If W indows XP , W indows 2000,W indows 98, or W indows Me starts the Add New Hardware W izard: 2 Choose Next .
C H A P T E R 3 O PERA TION About T ouchmonitor Adjustments Y our touchmonitor will unlikely require a djustment. V ariations in video output a nd a p- plication may require a djustments to your touchmonitor to optimize the quality of the display.
17” LCD Function Key Controls Function 1 Power Switch T urns the display system power on or off . 2 Select Displays the OSD menus on the screen a nd used to select (“Clockwise” a nd “Counter-clockwise” direction) the OSD control options on the screen.
Controls and Adjustment OSD Lock/Unlock Y ou are able to lock a nd unlock the OSD feature. The monitor is shi pped in the unlocked position. T o lock the OSD: 1 Press the Menu button a nd button si multa neously for 2 seconds. A window will a ppear displaying “OSD Unlock”.
OSD Control Options Brightne ss • Ba ckground Lumina nce of the LCD pa nel is a djusted. Contra st • Adjusts the contrast or the value s of color gain (RED, GREEN or BLUE). V -Position • Moves the screen up or down. H-Position • Moves the screen left or right.

A-35 C H A P T E R A N A TIVE R ESOLUTION The native resolution of a monitor is the resolution level at which the LCD pa nel is designed to perf orm be st. For the Elo LCD touchmonitor , the native resolution is 1280 x 1024 for the SXGA-17 inch size. In almost all ca ses, screen image s look best when viewed at their native resolution.
As a n exa mple, a SV GA re solution LCD pa nel ha s 800 pixels horizontally by 600 pixels vertically . Input video is also repre sented by the same terms.
