3 BEFORE Y OU ST ART CHECK THE V OL T A GE Bef ore connecting the cleaner to an electrical supply , ensure that the v oltage shown on the r ating plate located beneath the cl eaner is of the correct voltage f or your electricity supply . If it is not, do not use the cleaner b ut ref er back to y our dealer.
4 SER VICE Should you require service on your Electrolux cleaner , please telephone Electrolux on 08706 055055. Before requesting ser vice , please check whether y our problem is co vered under Ser vice Chec klist (see below). New fi lter pads, dust bags, brush rollers and drive belts can be obtained from Electrolux Retailers .
5 HO W T O ASSEMBLE CA UTION: Assemble the c leaner before using. CA UTION: Moving parts, make sure on/off switch is in off position bef ore plugging in. NO TE: Features ma y vary by model yet all parts assemble the same. Step A Attach Handle CA UTION: Do not catch cor d under handle.
6 4. Remov e front cover . Press down on handle latch and lift cov er awa y from cleaner . Step D Store Electrical Cor d Step C Chec k Disposable Dust Ba g/Reusable Cloth Bag (on some models) 5. Check to be sure the paper bag/reusab le cloth bag inlet hole is secure on the inlet tube.
7 Clean Under Use Handle Release 4 HO W T O USE The upright vacuum cleaner design allo ws use on multiple types of car peting and on upholstery or bare fl oors with attachments. When using the attachment tools, place the handle in the upright position.
8 How T o Use Accessories NO TE: Do not place c leaner on furniture or steps as the brush roll ma y cause damage. Place c leaner on fl oor with the handle in storage position while using accessories. Crevice T ool 1. Remov e hose from rear of cleaner .
9 HO W T O MAINT AIN The instructions in this booklet ser ve as a guide to routine maintenance . T o av oid unnecessar y ser vice calls, chec k the bag, belt, and brush roll often. Brush Roll The brush roll tur ns as it s weeps and combs the carpet nap.
Insert 10 8. Place belt around br ush roll pulle y . Align r ight end cap with square in base. Push end cap into place; see r ight side view . 9. Pull left side of br ush roll to stretch belt. Secure left end cap in base. Roll br ush roll to seat belt.
11 How T o Replace Bags–Style E82 or Reusable Cloth Ba g (on some models) NO TE : T urn off the switch and unplug the electrical cor d before c hanging bag. Never operate the vacuum cleaner without the ba g or the fi lter . It ma y be more conv enient to lower the handle to the fl oor bef ore changing the bag.
How to Chec k and Clear Hose Blocka ges Low suction or poor pic kup may be due to a b locka ge in the vacuum c leaner . 1. Remov e attachment hose and check suction at end of hose – if little or no suction, check disposab le dust bag. Change if needed.
13 1. Remov e the attachment hose from the lower hose retainer and look into the hose retainer f or any obstructions. Proceed to Step 2 to check f or any other bloc kages. 4. Check f or blockages in the brush roll area and remov e any obstructions f ound there.
14 Motor Filter/HEP A Filter (on some models) Check the motor/HEP A fi lter with each disposab le dust bag change. Clean or replace as needed. T o Clean Motor Filter -Style EF2 1. Remov e bag cov er . Press down on handle latch and lift cov er awa y from cleaner .
15 Some models will come complete with an e xtra bonus hose which is ideal f or cleaning stairs. HO W TO ASSEMBLE AND USE ST AIR CLEANING HOSE (Only on Certain Models) Step 3 - Y ou are ready to clean your stairs . Step 2 - Connect the hose cuff to the end of the bonus hose.
