7 Before using the ap pliance Rating plate This is situated on the lower fro nt frame of the appliance and can be seen upon opening the door. Alternatively the rating plate may also be found on the back or top of some models (wher e applicable). The a ppliance must be prote cted by a suitably rated fuse or circuit br eaker.
8 Electronic minute mind er 1 = ( - ) Decrease control and minute m inder setting button 2 = ( + ) Increase control ( ) Bell Symbol The electronic minute minder can also be used to show the time of da y. Please note that this is a 24 hour clock, for example 2.
9 The minute minder The minute minder gives an audible reminder at the end o f any period of cooking up to 23 hours and 59 minutes. To set press button (1) a nd the display will read 0.00, see F ig. 5. Release button (1) and press and hold button (2).
10 The ceramic hob Do not use the appliance if t he ceramic g lass is dama ged. If a fault or crack becomes vis ible during cookin g, disconnect the appliance immediately from the electricity supply and contact your local Service Force Cen tre. Using the hob • Turn the control knob in either direction to vary the heat setting.
11 The dual grill CAUTION – Accessible p arts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children sh ould be kept away. The grill is a dual circuit g rill w hich means that the full are a of the grill can be u sed or for economy purpose s, the centre section only can be u sed when coo king smaller quantities of food.
12 Ensure th e han dle is properly located. To r emove the handle, pr ess the b utton on the handle with the thumb and pivot the handle slightly upwards and towards the right to remove fr om the bracket. Protect your h ands whe n removing th e grill pan handle.

14 The secon d oven The second oven is th e smaller of t he two ovens. It is hea ted by elements in the top oven an d bottom of the oven. It is de signed for cooking smaller quantities of food. It gives especially good results if used to cook fruit cakes, sweet or savour y flans or quiche.
15 Hints and tips • Arrange the shelves in the required positions before switchin g the ov en on. Shelf position s are counte d fr om the bottom upwards.
16 The main oven The fan oven is particularly suitable for cooking lar ger quantities of food. The advantages of fan oven co oking are: Preheating The fan oven quickly reaches its temperature, so it is not usua lly necessar y to preheat the oven.
17 To fit the main ove n shelves The shelves should be fitted with the straight rods uppermost on the fr ame and the f orms towards the back of th e oven. If not fitted correctly the anti- tilt and s afety sto p mechanism will be affe cted. Hints and tips • Arrange the shelves in the required positions before switchin g the ov en on.
18 Cooking cha rt The oven temperatur es are intended as a guide onl y. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the temperatures to suit individual pref erences and requirements.

20 Defrost feature This function d efrosts most foo ds faster than more co nventional metho ds. It is particularly suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold e.g. cream filled gateaux, cakes covered with icings or frostings, cheesecakes, biscuits, scone s, etc.
21 • It is pre ferable to thaw fish, me at and poultry slowl y in t he fridge. Ho wever, this process can be accelerated by using the defrost function. Small or thin fish fillets, frozen peeled prawns, cube d or minced meat, liver, thin ch ops, steaks etc.
22 Care and cleaning Before cleanin g always allow th e appliance t o cool down. Cleaning materials Before using an y cleaning mater ials on your appliance, che ck that they are suitable and that their use is r ecommended by the manufacturer. Cleaners that contain bleach sho uld NOT be used as they may dull the su rface finishes.
23 Cleaning the c ontrol knobs and handles It is stron gly recommended that only hot soapy water is used for cleaning th e con trol knobs and handles. ANY OTHER CLEANING MAT ERIALS MAY DULL THE SURFACE FINISH. Cleaning the cera mic hob Make sure the ceramic glass is cool before cleaning.
24 To remove more st ubborn marks 1. Bar Keepers Friend may be used to clean off more stubborn stains or to remove discolourations. It may be necessary to rub the marks hard for several m inutes. 2. Use a plastic pad speciall y for non- stick saucepans with Bar-Keepe rs F riend for removal of more stubborn soilage.
25 Hints and tips To reduce hob soilage: • Make sure the bot tom of the saucepan and the cooking area are clean and dr y before cooking begins. • Ensure saucepans are large enough to accommodate food to avoid boil overs. • If possible, wipe up sp ills and splatte rs as they occur, but take car e to avoid steam burns.
26 Cleaning betwee n the outer and inner door g lass The outer door glass is remo vable for cleaning. To remove the o uter glass 1. Open the oven door slightly to gain access to the two cross head sc rews on the top of the oven do or. 2. Loosen the two screws using a P ozidrive screwdriver.
27 To replace the o uter glass 1. Holding the oven glass with both hands, gently place the locators into th e ho les of the brackets at the bottom of the oven door. 2. Push the top of the oven glass towards the oven door, ensuring the screw location holes line up.
28 Something not work ing Please carry out the following ch ecks on your app liance before calling a Service Eng ineer. It may be that the prob lem is a simple one that yo u can so lve yourself without the expense of a service call.
